My kru was a pro in NYC from 2001-2008 and I love to hear his brain get picked like this

20 years ago in NYC, all of the school's were teaching without elbows. So that is the only difference today. School's today in NYC have more focus on traditional muay thai, elbows, foot sweeps, push kicks and clinch work. Back then it was more about low kicks, punching, and combinations. Aziz is the best example, he was teaching straight up Dutch muay thai and Tae kwon do. Now he is teaching mainly traditional muay thai.

@@Trilltheoneandonlypurely anecdotal but my kru was a pro in nyc basically all of the 2000s and I can tell you 1000% that is his fight style. Combo and heavy low kick and a lot of clinch with mainly knees and throws.

I'm very grateful to live in NYC. I'm minutes away from Sitan in Astoria, best gyms in the USA to train Muay Thai.

Muay Thai was indeed more developed 20 years ago in Canada than the US. Ajahn Suchart brought it to Ontario all the way back in the 80s.
