I haven't celebrated Christmas since my teenage yrs b/c I was convicted by the same info U're sharing now & its been over 10 years I'm still adamant. I'm deemed a fanatic b/c I don't want to have anything to do with the holiday except evangelizing. But the SDA Church I was baptized into this year (to my surprise) celebrates it like other Churches. Something people forget is that, in the bible, there isn`t anything saying the date that Jesus was born, but the Catholics just substituted a lot of pagan celebration dates with our celebrations, but that doesn't take away the significance of Christmas to the christian community But anyway, happy christmas to everybody

Christmas is about mushrooms. The chimney was the only way down after the snows came. I'm one who's caught. I know God doesn't like it, but I'm one who rails against it's origins and tries to truly worship Him. And He never commanded us to celebrate His birth. Rather His sacrifice and His Sabbath. But I try to keep the peace as my mom is ignorant of the truth, elderly and is not open to correction. I participate and I enjoy the "good fruits" from the love and service to others it inspires from the deceived and I rail in my heart against it's origins.

Most Christians know that we have no knowledge of Jesus' exact birthdate. Many scholars believe it was in mid september. We celebrate on dec 25th because they did away with the pagan holiday of Saturnalia (a week long event that included child sacrifices) which fell on the winter solstice. And since Christianity was the new religion of Rome, Caesar established that day as Christmas (Christ's Mass). IMHO it really doesn't matter where it began or why...It's what is your heart that matters.

I understand what you mean, but at some point we need to ask ourselves where these traditions come from and, if they are so innocent, why we were not told the truth of their origins. Everyday can bring a reason to give thanks for family and all that we have been given; such celebrations need not surround pagan holidays and beliefs. Think about it...

How should Christians handle "Christmas" and "Easter" holidays... As opportunities to preach the Good News! Paul visited the temple to gain access to his brethren according to the flesh. Paul even circumcised Timothy (Acts 16:3) and shaved his own head in a vow (Acts 21:23) in order to be able to gain their trust KNOWING his own reason for doing it was just to deliver the Gospel. There is a liberty to not participate in these celebrations because we believe in them, but to use them as launchpads to bring the elementary truths, the basic principles of the Gospel of Salvation to the lost (Hebrews 6:1-2). I believe they are such blessings that even the most hardened person can be open to the idea that they are hypocritically celebrating something that even remotely reflects the acknowledgment of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. I wouldn't pass up that opportunity for anything! Trying to explain to a lost person about the deeper matters without them having the Spirit of Truth in them is like pouring new wine into old wineskins, or straining out a gnat to swallow a camel. Get them saved and walking with the Lord first, then you can gently dissect the deeper matters of the faith. Having the spirit of prophecy is named as one of the characteristics of God's last day church so holding up the writings of a prophet is not unbiblical since if the prophet is truly speaking the words of God then it is the same Spirit leading the prophet as it was that led the writers of the scripture itself.
