I absolutely love your passion and humanity. You are an inspiration! I have 1 more year to go in my PMHNP program. I do think you should draw boundaries after hours. Otherwise you will burnout!

Thank you for your and sharing your experience! I know all about being a mental health provider as an LCSW. I just got accepted into a direct entry program for psychiatric NP. I’m passionate about helping others and being on for 24/7 can be taxing. For me, it’s all about settling boundaries and taking care of my emotional health. The work you do is so inspiring! Continue the great work you do👍🏽

Thank you for sharing this info! May I ask why you are switching from LCSW to Psyche NP? I'm currently completing prereqs for nursing to go into Psych NP but I did consider LCSW path as well.

wait i didn’t know that was possible? you can do LCSW to psych NP bc I am not excited about nursing and think I would hate it but am very passionate about mental health. so that is possible?

Hey, I want to become a PMNHP. What do you think about the standard advice of doing 1-2 years of Med/Surg before getting into Psych? What psych jobs prepare you the best to be a good PMNHP? Thanks for the videos, they're very helpful!

My only psych experience is almost 2 years inpatient geriatric psych on a locked unit. Will that experience help me obtain an outpatient pmhnp job like the one you worked for your first year? I have 3 semesters left until boards.

So how long did it take to get the NP? And you got a job straight away?

Oh no! Patients can contact you after work? I think it's best to draw boundaries to avoid burnout, give them as much info on what to do in the case of an emergency/where to go during their visit. At least that's what I think. This is a very sensitive population and some can get really needy if they feel they have easy access to you. Just my opinion anyway. Btw I know of someone who sees 50 patients or more. Christ!! There's just no way you can give adequate care seeing that much patients. You mentioned being a psychNP opens up a lot of doors. Care to share what? Oh and one last thing, your waterfall in the background affected your sound. Looking forward to your next video.
