Judge Lynn is everything. She was everything Divorce Court needed to be, but the production company got in the way in Atlanta and fought against her. I think she was losing control of thevwaybthe show ran when Tyler Perry got ahold of it. One thing I liked about her is she did point them in the right direction by offering them counseling. I think she gets people really well and her personal background helped in thr solid advice she gave. But as it went on, I really do think she was worn down and they took more control from her. Everyone on the show were actual people but I think they encouraged them to be dramatic. Even Judge Lynn didnt like the Atlanta seasons.

listen this is probably a very specifically me thing, but I grew up in the 90s/00s. it was so wild to me when I realised as adult that black hair was so demonized because honestly as a white kid growing up in a rural mostly white community, all I remember thinking about black hair is how cool girls looked with those little braids with the fun coloured beads on the end. obviously I know now there was so much more to the issues black folks face, especially regarding hairstyles, but child me was just in awe of how cute those tiny braids with beads looked (I also really liked the sounds they made when people moved??? it was way before asmr so I guess child me was just weirdly comforted by the little clicks beads made when they touched) 😅 on another hair-related note: i absolutely LIVE for purple kennie omg 💜 edit to add: it is not just you kennie doll cos my jaw dropped when you said star jones had a background in law that's nearly as wild to me as the show starting in the FIFTIES 😵‍💫

Judge Jenkins had her own court show before this. And she was great in that. She seemed more by the book. But would also not let people step out of line. However, she Def didn't feel right for Divorce Court. She definitely has a different personality and style than both previous female judges. I feel bad that people remember her for her short run on Divorce Court and not her original Court show, where it really showcased her personality and rulings so much better.

For those who care: Divorce Court has an “all day” channel on like… Freevee I think. So you can just leave it on all day and it’ll play Divorce Court. Also: Judge Mablean Ephriam was quick to get a mf a divorce. There were times where she was bias depending on who talked first. But she 100% told you when you were wrong. And she told you to get tf outta there. But it was also a different time back then. So i take that into consideration. Judge Lynn Toler: She wanted to get some therapy through to you. She needed to know why you thought that way. And if she thought you could be saved.. she tried to save you. Judge Faith: Just loved mess. Judge Star Jones: She doesn’t wanna see anyone break up. She won’t tell anyone what to do. But also, MUCH LESS MARRIED COUPLES. Maybe this also goes with the times? People are getting married less and less.

Also do over half of the folks here in Michigan live in the Detroit metro area? I swear everytime I see folks online also from Michigan there from the southeast side of the state (including my grandma and mom) while I've been born and raised on the southwest side of the state

I...at my big age of 29...keeps the lights on for The Bold & the Beautiful. It's not my fault that my aunties and my mom kept watching it since I was born. Like, those shows would be on when I arrive from school. 😂 Like, I am still very weirdly invested. I must say that my aunties and mom had no business doing my hair or babysitting me watching these shenanigans.

Good lord. This was a throwback. Watching court tv was a past time for me. Divorce Court, Judge Mathis, the People’s Court, Judge Judy, Judge Hatchett, Judge Joe Brown - I can go on! 😂 I just started getting back into it, this time including international law.

12:08 - I’m scared that I was actually close. I guessed 60 years because my only clue was the People’s Court main theme came out around the late 50s-easy 60s and it’s still being used. That means this show TWO YEARS older than my parents! 😂

LOL girl, I have the same addiction (especially when they had Judge Toler). The people do make me feel happy being single. I'll never forget that one episode when a young guy wanted to divorce his older wife, saying "she don't feed me...and see buys goURmet meals like IhOP" 😂😂 Wife said she married him for *p and a paycheck.

My late grandmother loved Judge Lynn Toler. Even though she loved my grandpa, they had a really rocky relationship a lot of the times, and my grandma was someone that wouldn’t call a doctor when she had pains because she didn’t want to bother them. But she said Judge Lynn Toler gave her confidence and she started advocating for herself. To this day I have a soft spot for her because of how much my grandma adored her. I’m sure she means a lot to black women especially, but I thought I would share how my white grandmother loved her too.
