You never live in South Korea obviously and never experienced the life there. Sure if the condition is person live in the US or Europe country where people prefers natural beauty the most. But in South Korea, it's a tight competition every where. Not just your beauty but also, your background family, your GPA, where you went to college and especially if you're an actress or even idol.

@@Vor567tez if someone undergo PS for their own good, then, it's their fully awareness. Which mean, we shouldn't judge their choice or preferences. But if someone undergo PS, cosmetic surgery or botox bcs society around them told them they're ugly, what would you feel that way? Would you just ignore them everyday, even if you're gonna deal with those type of persons for years, you sure you could ignore them and not think of doing some changes in your faces/look? I doubt that. Unless you're a homebody, you're gonna meet society and if it's in south Korea, they don't just judge your look, but if you're wearing expensive makeup, expensive parfume or just went for Etude or Rom&nd. They judge that kind of thing as well, honey. Don't get me start with branded bags and branded shoes as well. That's your new knowledge there.

Just fyi, yes, IU wasn't considered a beauty for quite some time and she was very insecure about it. IU had eating disorder, she was bulimic and her diet method was extreme. She's only now considered beautiful after fighting her insecurities for so long, finding her own style and her aura definitely improved her overall look. She went through so much to get here. So people, be kind of your words, don't let more idols experience the same thing happened to young IU. People only feel that way because of constant comparison and belittling

when i first started listening to her i was 100% sure she had a nose job, her nose was just so tiny and perfect in my eyes and then i saw all of her predebut and childhood photos and like wow i realized she was just blessed with a perfect nose naturally. yet she still felt the need to change it? that’s ridiculous

People who suffered from Body Dysmorphia and Eating disorder tend to see things differently. It's like scanning in details, to detect the flaws. I'm undiagnosed and I perceived myself differently, it's like I look deformed and hideous while for others my looks seems normal (I was bullied from the past / long effect of bullying, getting ridiculed and humiliated). I see cosmetic/plastic surgeries as helpful (I won't overdo it) to lessen my worries/problem. I haven't undergo any cosmetic/plastic procedures yet. Some people cope with "being unique/different" while it doesn't for me. I see cosmetic/plastic surgery as similar as fixing physical health problems. For ex. Breathing issues, amputated legs, etc. It can be seen as essential physically but also mentally. People shouldn't project their insecurities to others. There's nothing wrong having a surgery.

@@anniekimsay Have you spent any time learning about the different plastic surgery types or how to identify them? Have you seen any analysis videos where they compare pictures over the years of her features changing. iu has very subtle work done since she was already very naturally pretty so she mainly refined her features further like reducing her nose and enlarging her eyes. Her lips got fuller over the years so i believe she may have placed small amounts of filler in it. Also her face has slimmed down tremendously which could be weight loss but to the extent that it changed i believe she may have also gotten masseter injections to her jaw or just a regular jaw shave since the injections are only temporary. Most people seek out a permanent solution after a while. IU has the type of surgery where you can't tell just by looking at her because it's done very naturally and she still looks like her old self just very enhanced. In order to notice you have to compare her now to old pictures where the changes are more apparent. If you don't have the discerning eye for it , natural plastic surgery is not very easy to detect. I don't think there's a single fully natural idol

This is why it's so wrong for them to debut idols so young & give them plastic surgery before the age of 18 sometimes. They arent even finished growing yet, how do you know what they'll look like in their 20s?? And it can make them look strange when they do grow. I'm scared for all of these idols faces and everyone who's getting plastic surgery just bc it's 'easy' and a 'trend.' All of that plastic being done since an early age isn't going to age well no matter what they think

Just because she didn’t undergo a rhinoplasty doesn’t mean she hasn’t gotten anything else done. The clip only talks about how she wasn’t able to get rhinoplasty due to her skin being too thin but it doesn’t mean she didn’t get eye surgery or jaw reduction for example.

I was so impossible for to havw a jaw surgery since it goes for months and her debut just started in less a week and the eyelids takes 1 whole month to heal and it's still impossible since she always in other roles and get too busy to have plastic surgery so thanks to the doctor who prevent her from it at the first place ❤❤❤🎉

Why do these videos always pop up for me? They always make me feel like the asshole because I think it's important to give fans realistic expectations. While IU might not have been able to achieve the results that she wanted, to my trained eye as a cosmetic and surgical dermatologist who frequently works on reconstruction cases with plastic surgeons, IU has several telltale signs of cosmetic surgery. The results are very subtle and she has always been a beautiful girl. But she does have an open rhinoplasty scar and the checked nostrils which are a result of bringing the ala in instead of the natural curved nostrils she had at debut pre-surgery. Her nose bridge is slightly higher now and the tip is much sharper. When you have ultra thin skin (which to be honest, hers does appear thin, but not excessively so), it is extremely common for the tip of your nose to appear very sharp in profile after rhinoplasty. Her eyebrows and hairline have been raised. It's quite subtle, so it's possible that she maintains a Botox brow lift instead of ever getting a surgical one. The hairline could also be higher without surgery by using electrolysis. Her double eyelids do look natural, but the shape of her eyes and the widening are very indicative epicanthoplasty. The scarring is also slightly visible for it as well. Many people have wondered about IU's jawline. This actually looks natural to me. IU simply has a tendency to gain weight or bloat in the lower third of her face. The actual bone structure is the same. The only visible difference is at the chin, which used to be a bit more flat and rounded. It looks like IU probably gets filler here. It could be a small chin implant, but I very much doubt it since the angle of her chin is not consistent and nothing is visible when she purses her lips or makes a tight smile. Please remember these are just my observations. I have not treated IU, therefore I cannot claim that this is 100% correct. For TL;DR Likely surgeries: epicanthoplasty, very minor rhinoplasty primarily focusing on the ala. Nonsurgical procedures: Botox to the forehead and possibly jawline and masseters. Electrolysis for hairline. Filler at chin, veneers, and likely chemical face peels to maintain her even, pale skin tone. This actually makes IU one of the most natural idols in the industry while also being (in my opinion) one of the most, if not THE most, talented female idol.

@@cloudyxsxies583 It doesn't. Why would you think that, especially after a post explaining that she most likely did refine a few things? She is talented because she is incredibly gifted as a songwriter and lyricist, creative in her MV ideas , has a beautiful voice, good acting ability, etc. Whether or not someone has had cosmetic surgery has nothing to do with their talent, and no one should be demonized for it either. The concerning part of cosmetic surgery in K-Pop comes from agencies forcing or pressuring their trainees and idols to get procedures that are not their own idea, and invasive procedures done on young kids who are not old enough to be getting certain things done or able to comprehend the full scope of the risks and potential downsides.

@@zara3960 Oh, I agree. She had been active for a while without any signs of cosmetic surgery. It looks like she had her eyes done first when she was around 19. The change in her nose seems to be when she was about 21 or so. Given the timing, it looks like she might have had her eyes done for acting debut in YTBLSS and rhinoplasty in preparation for her role in The Producers. It could be coincidence, but considering how vicious netizens can be about the looks of actors, it wouldn't surprise me if that was at least partially the cause for her decision.

She definitely had plastic surgery on her eyelids and jaw, we're all being gaslighted. Most idols say they never had surgery and that they were born perfect. "It's just aging and weightloss" is absolute bs. Even Wonyoung tries to pull that nonsense. Plastic surgery in Korea is so good because it can be done so naturally, making subtle changes slowly over time so it's less obvious. This type of video promotes body dysmorphia.. Almost all idols get surgery to enhance their beauty, and so has IU.

It’s why most of the kids these days think their idols don’t have rhinoplasty’s bc they’re comparing it to a small child’s nose lmao. Same thing with eyes, your eyes get smaller as you age but most Kpop idols have gotten wider and more opened up after aging, which doesn’t happen in nature. Plastic surgery doctors in SK themselves say every single celebrity has gotten at least one thing done, it’s extremely common. I’m Korean myself and my parents offered to get my eyes done in college. All of my friends have gotten their eyes done, it’s cheap. But you thing a celebrity hasn’t done it? Lol. There’s even proof she’s done more than her eyes, she’s done jaw shaving, skin lightening procedures. There’s a whole injection named after her in Korea called the IU drip. It’s really popular and I’ve gotten it done myself too. It makes your skin milky white like hers, basically skin bleaching. No one in Korea is naturally that white, please understand that. You sound like 14 years old. Grow up
