His first & only love was football. So the man wasn't afraid of contact. In fact, no matter how big or how many his opponents he was going to try & hit them before they hit him. The man was a hitter in football. Basketball players were soft to him. This is even his own words.

I met him while I was in a club with a co worker..she was a big fan and asked him for a pic..we were outside n everybody was leaving..he had his Maybach parked right outside the club by the entrace .he wasn't 20 deep..just 2- three guys..I took the pic and he asked me if wanted a pic also.. ill never forget that moment..still got that pic. After that we dapped it up and he left smoothly.. no noise,. No drama..

The media and the coaches bought into his image ! Braids, tattoos, and hip hop culture. They didn't look at how hard he played, or his balling I.Q. ! He didn't miss games to rest his pinky finger or sore knee. He played for himself, his teammates, and the fans. I was in a Burger restaurant, after a 76ers game one night. I ordered 2 big burgers and a large onion rings ! A.I. came in bought himself some food, and payed for mine. Saved me $19. dollars that night. I have good memories of A I. 👍 The burger was good also.

My uncle is one of the biggest old school people I ever known. He is from the Magic, Dr J, Jerry West era. He said, "Son, one thing i have to say about Iverson. The guy plays "hard" every single night. He gives you everything on the floor." Chris Webber said the same thing. He said A.I had a injured knee cap, nearly broken finger among other injuries. He said "Allen, why you playing bro". Allen replied, " Because there is some kid out there that never seen me play. I want them to see me at my best and they paid their hard earn money, so I gotta play". # Respect

I'm from The D and it seemed like AI was given a raw deal coming to Detroit. I believe he came a few yrs too late due to the fact that the Pistons were on the decline andand the league was moving towards a young Lebron at that point, along with being more offensive. There was a game that I saw pure cohesiveness and that was vs The Lakers at the Forum. They ran LA off the floor. Iverson, Sheed and everybody was in total sync that night and it was a beauty. I believe with Chauncey gone that team was totally different and Iverson could of scored more easier with that te than ever before with a Sheed, Rip, McDyess and a plus from Tayshaun. No way that squad shouldn't of met up with Mia or Clev I'm the ECF that year.

I’m from Detroit too. Did you say they played Lakers at the Forum? Lol… but nah, he should’ve been able to wear 3. Ben was not playing there and even if his jersey would be retired, Iverson should’ve been able to wear 3 as well. Retired jerseys can be worn, so why not pending retired jerseys?! At that time he became a liability. He scored but was a volume shooter. He’s horrible at being a point guard so late in his life. It’s like if Steph leaves golden state, he won’t be as effective with another team. AI was playing the off guard position in Philly. Eric Snow was the point guard and it worked because snow was a bigger point guard who can guard big guards. Once he left Philly it was downhill. Philly allowed AI to basically do as he wants. Talented, yes, but not a team player.

Iverson really didn't have the weapons and it showed when the Sixers played the Lakers. His sheer will and ability got them that far. Detroit just flat out lied to him and it showed. New and younger players will come on and the game might be moving away from them.
