The story goes that they had a team huddle with players and coaches and Griffins said that they would have a staff huddle right after but Stotts walked away talking to some players and Griffin yelled at him across the gym in front of the players to join the huddle. Stotts said he just wanted to talk to a couple of players. He resigned a couple of days later.

Drop coverage is exactly why the defense sucks. Exactly why every guard with a heartbeat puts up numbers against the Bucks. Griff wanted aggressive switching. Brook wasn't comfy with that plus it doesn't play to his strengths. Without an aggressive on ball defender drop coverage doesn't work. If the new coach can't convince Brook or the rest of the team to change up it's all for nothing.

I get the firing but I don't get the hiring lol Doc doesn't have a great track record the last decade, usually his teams finish worse than projected. He's great in regular season but not great in head to head coaching matchups. Guys like Spoelstra can run circles around Doc. Hard to win when you are severely outmatched on the strategy side. Doc likes to build a rotation and style and stick to it... You need versatility and ability to adjust lineups.

I'm someone that is new to basketball, I used to only watch football (soccer for you Americans :v) and the coaches are more important than even the stars there, where the greatest team of all time, which is Barcelona from 2009 to 2012, it's known as Guardiola's team more than Messi's. Ok, what I wanted to ask is the following: Let's be honest, how important or necessary are coaches at the NBA? Since sure, he gives you trainings and tactics in games, but Basketball is so individual that I'd argue the coaches aren't that important. Is this a bad take or am I right?
