Le Sserafim has a leader, Ssam-achi and a backup, sweet Kkura, great dynamic duo!❤ It works well. Besides, Sakura being Le Sserafim's *'Official Mom'* is enough stress for her.🤣

I don’t think that's the main reason. Sakura wants to spread her wings in her experience as an idol and she needs to learn many things (hence she's a foreigner), so being a leader definitely will be a burden to her and hindering her to grasp the lessons

What Chaewon said about Sakura is similar to what Yujin said about Gaeul in IVE - that having an older member means there's someone the leader can rely on.

When I watched one of their IZ*ONE Vlives when their leader Eunbi was not around them, the members even wanted Sakura to be their temporary "leader" being the second oldest member but she also declined for that matter

I think its cool when a member other than the oldest member is the leader though. Chaewon does her best to carry on that responsibility and can have support from Kkura and the rest of the members.

Didn't Sakura put that in as a contract clause? I thought she mentioned a while back that before she signed she asked not to be leader of the group.

Yes, it was on knowing brother, but that one she kept it for herself and the company, but this one is more chaewon POV, where she doesnt know that the contract exist

When I saw the title, I thought "Source maybe took the SM route.," and when I found out the reason why Chae was leader/captain and her explaination, I now thought "well, that's a good reason to handpick a captain" Source did make a good choice aside from reuniting SsamKkura (just like them reuniting) with Yunjin.....

A lot of groups from different companies these days are doing that. Like IVE, BTS and Le Sserafim and probably many more. And I think it's a good thing, imo...

I've always believed that the leader shouldn't automatically be the eldest, it should be the person with the best leadership qualities. If it so happens that an older member can act as support for a younger leader and vice versa, then that is a huge benefit. However, this also means that if a group's eldest member coincidentally has excellent leadership skills, then being a leader is fine too because the potentional for optimization is maximized. For Le Sserafim, I think their current setup works well 👍

she was a leader for HKT as well. I remember being sorry for Takamina when they announced her General Manager position at the shuffle. She lost her best friend in th group and got a load of work on the same weekend.

That's such a good and smart thought though!! And thinking about it, hybe has done this with every group (yay i know there are different labels under) And BTS is best one because RM is like both maknae and hyung

Another reason why Sakura isn't leader is because... well, stereotypically, the leader of a K-pop group is always the oldest Korean member. Although Chaewon is only the second oldest member of LE SSERAFIM, she is the oldest Korean member, so we know why she gets picked as leader. Yunjin should've been co-leader, because a K-pop group having two leaders isn't uncommon.

From an international audience level (which the majority of their audience), the leader being Korean or not is 100% irrelevant. Moreover, Sakura was the more popular member among Koreans in Izone. So it seems pretty obvious that Sakura turned the position down. Kpop really isn't very Korean anymore, and I don't think anyone cares all that much. Look at Blackpink for example. The only thing Korean about them is that some of their music is somewhat sung in Korean. Otherwise, they're basically western style pop/hip-hop, and if Lisa was the official leader of that group, no one would mind.

sakura only signed the contract with hybe with the condition she wouldn't be the leader, this is about chaewon pov where chaewon doesn't know about sakura's contract with hybe until they debuted and sakura told in a interview. so original, sakura probably was going to be the leader but she didn't want it and probably mentioned chaewon as a good option for that position.

That is incorrect. Because pledis entertainment picks the oldest member as leader. Scoups . The leader of fromis9 is the oldest. And tws oldest member is leader.
