Wow! What an ensemble cast. You've got Sonny Crockett, Thurston Howell III, Howard Cunningham, Samantha, Jim Phelps, Princess Ardala, Anthony Falconetti, Roy DeSoto, Dr. Early, Morgan O'Rourke, and even Detective Cannon as a guest announcer!!!

Something about the political climate over recent events that reminds me of all this and Disney''s " The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh" So, many great mini series, but, this. is timely reminder of what matters. Thank you, again

Don Johnson is absolutely LUSCIOUS in this movie.. He must have been in his early 20's here.

I love these type of movies I could watching these type of movies back in the mid '70s but they don't make them anymore I'm glad they make outlander on Star TV

Canadian retiree sure learned alot about the war of American Independence. Actors, actresses, the plots, the exciting and the steaming scenes, the costumes, the land and weather - all contributed to a magnificently realistic portrayal of a pivotal time .

Of these kinds of movies they don't make them like this anymore this is one of my favorites

Here we are almost 45 years after this mini series was shown on TV along with the other 2 segments titled "The Bastard" which came first, then this one "The Rebels", and the 3rd segment "The Seekers". This splendid 3 segment mini series should be shown in schools. At least some important events in history would be remembered by students getting caught up in the also entertaining storylines. Histrtorical facts & entertainment never changes. All 3 segments were full of brilliantly acted cast members, sensational costumes on the main stars plus regular cast members, the sets & all items used in these segments were accurate, plus all the made up stories were absolutely believable as if they were as solid as the facts from history. ...It's a pleasure watching these segments again after so many years when I watched them when they originally aired.

A part of our history beautifully told. A wonderful production and all actors so well cast. I really enjoyed this fine film. Thanks for posting it.

I enjoyed seeing this movie as I do not remember previously seeing it even though I am now 67. Another good find for me on KZfaq during the coronavirus lockdown even though it is more a soap opera version. It has so many actors from past TV shows and movies as it is now 41 years old. These were people from England and other parts of Europe who came across the ocean all because they had a grievance with their country hoping for something better. This revolution does not get pulled off without the help of Lafayette and France.

Got to love the high desert and sagebrush of the area surrounding Boston ;)

Some of those people seem to have a never ending supply of new and fancy suits.

This brings back a lot of memories. I was only 9 when I saw The Bastard, The Rebels, and The Seekers when they aired as two-part made-for-TV movies of the week on WPIX Channel 11 In NJ. I just loved the storytelling in these movies. Thanks for posting.

I finished watching Part one--"The Bastard"--by John Jakes. Well Done! Now I am watching this one. I cannot stop myself from laughing though, at the TEN GALLON Tricorn hat that actor Don Johnson is wearing! HOLY smokes, that has got to be the biggest Tricorn hat I have ever seen! Sometimes, it's all about the hat! LOL. I remember watching the directors commentary on a popular science fiction show--he made fun of his own production--he too was laughing about the character's ridiculous hat--soon he noticed the trend throughout the show, that all the characters had kind of weird funky hats. So I borrowed from him: "Sometimes, it IS about the hat." Now about the show: Excellent acting, writing, and use of history to tell a story. Fantastic! Thanks for sharing!!

I remember watching this when it was first broadcast. I initially watched it for Andrew Stevens and discovered Don Johnson in the process. It was the first thing I'd ever seen him in. Watched him in everything he's done since then. Thank you so much for posting these movies. John Jakes was the hot property book-wise back then.

Finally I bought the series on VHS - some S.O.B. stole them, & replacing them, when they could be found were terribly expensive. Alas it finally was available on DVD; Egad, I hollered, they were edited. HOW DARE THEY!!! Now, at last, looking at the running time, I know these are in their entirety. Of course I have already downloaded to my computer, flash drive & external Hard Drive & an SD card. Not taking any chances this time. William Daniels as John Adams is just more reserved than in 1776. I guess they had to speak at Miniseries -speed to draw it out.

Gosh, back when tv abounded with excellent mini series! I loved this, and read all the books. I had such a young girl crush on Don Johnson, and years later when Miami Vice came out and people were asking who is this guy, I was thrilled and felt vindicated lol.

Man, Don Johnson was so cute!! I was pretty surprised to read the book and find out that it's VERY different from the miniseries. For example, Phillip and Judson don't even know each other in the novel. Hpwever, I loved this show when I saw it in 1979 and Don Johnson's Judson was one of my first major crushes!! :D I audio taped it off the TV using a tape recorder and wore the heck out of the tapes. Now I find out I can still remember the lines!! Thanks for posting this!

The 5 minute resolution scene between Philip Kent and Mrs. McLean (3:02:37 - 3:07:37) is so well crafted and well acted that it comes off as entirely convincing. Philip's sincere concern for the widow gently disarms her as she slowly comes to understand that she will never have anyone else like him to mutually cherish the memory of Judson Fletcher.

I read the books many years ago, I lived 5 miles out of town with no TV or phone!

I’ve been on a Revolutionary War kick recently. Had no idea that William Daniels would turn up as John Adams in this! Color me surprised (and impressed).

As a young boy who was and still is very into the Revolutionary War, I loved this series. BUT, William Howe, who is portrayed by the lovely Wilfred Hyde White, was only 46 in 1775 whereas Hyde-White was 76 at the time of filming. I thought Peter Graves made a good George Washington.

All Americans should learn all our American history this way. Every culture should learn this way. Everyone one of our Forefathers of every culture build this great nation for all. This is a less boring way to respect our history. Not just one culture built this Nation. Great movie. Thank you.🙏

I have just finished watching this film in which it makes me sad that American soldiers didn't wear military uniforms properly except officers. And America would not have been independent without France,s help ,which is only my personal opinion.
