I am so surprised by the wide demographic of listeners of that Deee-lite record!! Saw them live years ago. So fun!!! Thanks, Ritchie!! And The Humpty Dance!! The best!!! I used to sing it with my previous band, Power Funk Millennium. Front 242 is gangtsa!!

Rich you never cease to amaze me with the depth and width of your musical genre enjoyment! We are soo much alike. (I’m 70 btw). I regret selling off my huge 12” collection when I moved from Kansas in ‘97. I had every one of those you showed. You’re without a doubt my favorite VC character. I have so much fun watching and always some good laughs and chuckles. And big respect to you for not having a fragile masculinity problem like some and you can easily enjoy and display “Johnny Are You Queer”! lol. Rock and dance on buddy!

Great stuff, Rich. It's always good to see Digital Underground and I here you on the Gene Loves Jezebel - I actually like that band. Also nice to see that Josie Cotton "Johnny Are You Queer" peeking out of the backgroud, talk about songs KROQ would overplay, but it's another catchy one.

Cool selection of 12” singles, I have just about all of those on cd comps. I did have most of them on vinyl but I find them easier to play them on cds. Many were new wave club hits here in the NY area in the eighties. Front 242 is one of my favorites.

Vanilla Ice actually bought the rights to Under Pressure to avoid paying Queen Royalties. I love 12" singles I have may early rap and hip hop singles as well as quite a few EBM/Industrial 12'ers by Lords of acid, 1000 Homo DJs, Time Zone, Front 242, Skinny Puppy, Frontline Assembly, Ministry...etc. Great video as usual. Great records again!! Thanks for not dragging Bobby 😂 he’s one of my favorite singers, got to see him and New Edition last year. Vanilla Ice is definitely a classic one but gets all the hate. You already know from my video how much I love Digital Underground, I’ll listen to them forever. That Eazy E is favorite of mine also, I liked that whole album that song came from. Blackstreet was a big group headed up by super producer Teddy Riley who also produced a lot of Bobby Brown’s hit songs. No Diggity was and still is a huge song although I’ve never heard “The Jungle Mix” 😂 the original was produced by and features Dr. Dre. Good vid 👍🏽

2pac is the cousin of Money B of Digital underground, he was a backup dancer for the humpy dance video . He rapped for the first time on the song all around the world. The album sex packets and the one after Sons of the P , are the ones to have. Cool video man

Bring down the birds- is a song off the soundtrack “Blow Up” if you notice the bass line it was sampled by Dee Lyte for Groove is in the heart . It’s a Herbie Hancock tune and the bass player is Ron Carter . Bootsy just appears in the video with his bass but he didn’t play the bass part. I never knew that until I was learning how to play it on bass .
@junesmusiccorner

2Pac and Money B were just close friends. They clicked through Digital Underground but got closer because Money B’s father and 2Pac’s mother were both Black Panthers. And yeah Sex Packets and Sons of the P are incredible works. I like them all though, “This is an EP Release” the album with “Same Song” where 2Pac debuted is good too just wish it was longer. I didn’t know that about Bootsy, I thought he was playing as well 😂 still a funky song to get you moving. 👍🏽

last comments I said my favourite Herbie Hancock sampling song was "Do What You Want To" by Blapps Posse. Problem is that song samples "Wicky Wacky" which is by Fat Back Band not Herbie Hancock. I'm nearly 50 I got confused ok. I will now say my favourite Herbie Hancock sampling song is king Bee - " Back by Dope Demand" which definitely samples Herbie Hancock - " Wiggle Waggle". You can see why I got all bewildered man with Wicky Wacky and Wiggle Waggle what the hell were these dudes on in the 70's man. Well PCP I guess. Hope you're well Richie.

Hey Rich! man I don’t own very many 12’ records Just a few EPs. Mostly garage stuff. What?!? Did you actually say that Queen/Bowie track Under Pressure sucks?!? That freaking song is awesome! How often do you get a collab of 2 legendary vocalists like Bowie & Mercury on one track? I’m sorry but I have to disagree which is “My Prerogative” LoL! But I will agree that the Vanilla Ice track is a great song! And whoever says that they didn’t like it back then is a flat out liar! Becuz when that song came out it blew everyone away! Man you have some pretty formidable hip hop stuff! Love the 80-90’s rap stuff which I hardly ever see in the wild! I freaking love that Produgy jam too! It’s pretty bada$$! Cool vid Rich! ✨✌️👽✨
