Yes - to anyone who had an incredibly strong connection to our mothers (who we have lost) this scene really packs a punch. Our grief at their loss only shows the power of our connection. Better to have had that and lost it (as insanely painful as that is) than to have never had it.

I saw this film about 4 or 5 months ago and it was this scene that really affected me. After her journey filled with dealing with all of her demons, she is faced with a moment where she is bonded with an innocent child that is dealing with the problems of his life, yet, is still able to offer her some beauty and comfort and it appears that she truly begins to forgive herself for all the destruction she has done to her life. I've had a particularly shitty day, and I felt like I needed to watch this. Thank you for uploading.

kids come into this world with pure, brutally honest souls and aren't afraid to ask people the tough questions. it's growing up that teaches us to lie, lack empathy and become self-obsessed. i think that's why i've always loved them so much. i'm a 37/f who can't have kids of my own due to some really serious medical issues that pretty much derailed my "life plan" but if i'm ever to live on my own again without help i'd love to foster... possibly even foster to adopt. in my 20's and early 30's i knew i should be working with kids but i had people in my ear telling me that i'd go nowhere in life with that salary. i changed majors, graduated, was on the fast track to "success" - i owned my own property, had a kickass "cool, downtown loft" PR job, tons of friends.... but when illness struck my life, it really shows you WHAT truly matters not to mention WHO truly cares about you. this little sweet soul singing makes me teary all the time. who knows what will happen in life but i try to keep positive, even when i'm currently living in a toxic situation with my parents. hey, maybe i'll never be a mom but i'll find love later in life and be the best step-grandma to ever live! advice to the young who haven't been through anything similar: don't take a single day for granted, forgive (unless its toxic/abusive), and care nothing but what your heart truly desires and run, run and never look back. happiness awaits you if you are true to what actually makes you passionate and excited about in life. be well. ❤️

Though this scene and the film don’t specifically or intentionally reference faith or God it’s 100% obvious that this was a Divinely orchestrated appointment that Cheryl had to be prepared for. Throughout the entire trail to this point, God was working on her scarred soul and broken heart. My faith and personal experience with the realities of this life along with God’s Love has shown me that He was by her side every step of the trail as well. Faith in a loving Creator is the only way I can explain how that 6 year old boy could have reached Cheryl’s deepest soul and relate to the specific pain, suffering and sorrow that they both had in common. Not to mention the perfect timing for their life altering meeting on the PCT at that exact moment. ❤ Thanks for sharing this remarkably deep and tender exchange from a beautiful film.

i was a blubbering mess at this. kids come into this world with pure, brutally honest souls and aren't afraid to ask people tough questions. they haven't been indoctrinated by the poisons of the world yet - well, in a perfect world that is. it's growing up (especially if you don't have a good childhood (so the grandma stepping up for this boy has always touched my heart as well) or have something truly terrible knock us down early. growing up: we learn how to lie, start to lack that pure empathy and become so self-obsessed and prioritize things that make us miserable due to necessity. i think that's why i've always loved wee little ones so much. i'm a 37/f who can't have kids of my own due to some really serious medical issues that pretty much derailed my "life plan" but if i ever recover enough to live on my own again without help i'd love to foster... possibly even foster to adopt, tbh. there are so many children in need of a safe, warm, loving life where they don't have to be stressed and in chaos daily. in my 20's and early 30's i knew i should be working with kids but i had people in my ear telling me that i'd go nowhere in life with that salary. i changed majors, graduated, was on the fast track to "success" - i owned my own property, had a kickass "cool, downtown loft" PR job, tons of friends.... but when illness struck my life, it really shows you WHAT truly matters not to mention WHO truly cares about you. this little sweet soul singing makes me teary all the time. who knows what will happen in life but i try to keep positive, even when i'm currently living in a toxic situation with my parents. hey, maybe i'll never be a mom but i'll find love later in life and be the best step-grandma to ever live! advice to the young who haven't been through anything similar: don't take a single day for granted, forgive (unless its toxic/abusive), and care nothing but what your heart truly desires and run, run and never look back. happiness awaits you if you are true to what actually makes you passionate and excited about in life. yes, money is necessary but it doesn't buy happiness. a more simple existence is very underrated these days, that's all i'm trying to say. be well... and if you're not? please don't try to hard knuckle through it alone, trust me. i swear my illness happened to save my soul. ❤

I have always pondered the notion that Reese Witherspoon and Alicia Silverstone should have been sisters . Very similar lifestyles these two young women have film presence even when the films arent very good.

From this valley they say you are going, We will miss your bright eyes and sweet smile, For they say you are taking the sunshine Which has brightened our pathways a while. Chorus Come and sit by my side if you love me; Do not hasten to bid me adieu, But remember the Red River Valley, And the girl that has loved you so true. I've been thinking a long time, my darling, Of the sweet words you never would say, Now, alas, must my fond hopes all vanish? For they say you are going away. Won't you think of the valley you're leaving, Oh, how lonely and sad it will be, Just think of the fond heart you're breaking, And the grief you are causing to me. From this valley they say you are going, When you go, may your darling go too? Would you leave her behind unprotected, When she loves no one other than you. As you go to your home by the ocean, May you never forget those sweet hours, That we spent in the Red River Valley, And the love we exchanged 'mid the flowers. I have promised you, darling, that never Will a word from my lips cause you pain, And my life, it will be yours forever, If you only will love me again. They will bury me where you have wandered, Near the hills where the daffodils grow, When you're gone from the Red River valley, For I can't live without you I know.

I liked the scene, but I'm a music freak and I'd never heard that tune before, and now I have, so thanks "Wild"! One more thing, I watched the new Gilmore Girls thing, can't remember what they called the new one but anyway I got a good laugh how they poked fun at this movie lol. So many people want to tell someone else's story these days. Live your own life people, because if you do, don't worry you'll have your own original story to tell one day. Some people write about what they've done and things they've accomplished etc... But we could all probably have a book or movie about the things that happen to all of us, and it would appeal to someone somewhere.

I was watching this movie and constantly being reminded of my friend who lost her son. He was a twin and she has been lost ever since that day. She always called them her 'Suns' instead of 'Sons.' His name was Kyle. When it came to this scene, Kyle saying his name and then singing about taking away the sunshine I broke down and cried like a baby. It was like I experienced a little bit of her pain and it was truly awful.
