Last Sunday, Maximo, Moana and Roy were released. A special moment for everyone, and for Maximo as well. He arrived two and a half months ago as a premature pup. Back then, it was unsure if he would even make it. But look at him now: he is the heaviest out of the three seals and swimming freely in the Wadden Sea. Many of you asked us if we could go live, but due to the location this wasn’t possible. To bring you along with this release, we we made this video. Thank you to all who supported these seals in the past few weeks.

How prepared are they for the wild they look lost? They look like they were raised in captivity and then just set free what is the likelihood that these little guys will survive probably none because they were they were not rehabbed properly

Seal pups are left alone by their mothers after 3-5 weeks. They can swim and catch fish by instinct. There is no need to learn them such things, as they manage on their own. Those seals weren't completely raised in captivity, all seals in Pieterburen were originally wild seals who got sick, injured or their mother left too early (when they're still nursing).
