Some brands offer repair parts at an affordable price while others charge a lot for the same set of parts. As you saw in the video. You can still buy midrange smartphones from Lava and samsung. They do not cost an arm or a leg to repair. Oneplus repair cost was quite shocking. They should improve it if they want to retain customers.

Simple reason Samsung charges more for phone purchases but asks less for repairs. Plus Samsung makes most OLED/AMOLED displays used in all phones in markets, they don't need to pay for it. OnePlus buys OLED from Samaung so they need to pay Samsung increasing price.

Seems like a fair deal to me .....all comes to brand image and post purchase Benefits provided through the customers money.....not to be a samsung fanboy ....but ain't the work done by samsung is commendable as even parts not manufactered by them also cost less than what other companies are asking for

Samsung have their own display production, other brands need to purchase from samsung or other 3rd party brands. Plus samsung ultra has flat display compared to curved display in 12R

@@rajpawar9343The not paying for display part is not true. Samsung mobile has to pay for the display it purchases from the samsung Display unit just like others. There may be some discount but its not free. While they charge high prices(especially on the upper end of the spectrum), samsung sells their phones at scales much higher than other manufacturers. Plus, if you make the phone repair economic so a backpanel replacement doesn't need a frame or other internal component replacement, or a screen replacement doesn't need a fingerprint, motherboard replacement you can save some costs. Oneplus costs are very expensive compared to the competition. Hopefully, they improve on this aspect in the future.

@@rajpawar9343 Samsung displays and Samsung electronics are two different companies. Samsung buys displays from Samsung displays just like any other brands. The only reason I can think of is OnePlus uses a curved display.

I bought my Redmi Note 9pro max in Sep 2020 still performing best without any issues even battery also didn't age that well still giving SOT 7-8hrs for heavy usage its featured with 5020mAh battery i checked battery price in xiaomi official site it shows only ₹599/- midrange phones are really better value for money than flagship

Add to that the wilfulness of most of repair shops, they do not give the screens at the prices mentioned by the company and say that if you can get one at that price anywhere, then go there for the repair. It's all mafia vibes going on

I had really good experience with Samsung as screen replacement were done within 2 ro 3 hours for my mid range smartphones. Really kudos to Samsung for fast service.

I have used almost 8 OnePlus phones and the last one was 9 pro which i had ditched because it got the green lines and the surprising thing is that OnePlus banglore have completely done it for free and i didn't have the bill. That is just amazing . They were so nice and i was shocked. But even after that i lost the interest in OnePlus phones ( their cameras are average compared to pixels iphones and galaxies , lot of hiccups , i think there was something wrong with processor after 2 years of use , always lagging ) now i am using pixel 7 pro ( except cameras and stock Android, this phone is worse than OnePlus , notorious overheating , average performance ) don't buy pixel with tensor processors , i thought of giving them a chance but i regret it now , i should have gone with s22 ultra or an iphone .

This is a trend we need to speak about it Idk but after the phones launches you will feel its really fast and smooth. After 2-3 years when phone comes to end of life it becomes unbearable I have a hunch, that these companies knowlengly degrade performance for their newer models.

The s22 ultra also had a toaster for a processor. It wouldn't have been any better. Your best bet was to wait for the s23 or the s24 series. They have better Snapdragon and exynos processors respectively.

getting a phone repaired in india takes more than 5x cost than china. meanwhile in china they replace and give you back in a few hours at max. the engineers can learn something from them. spare parts should be even more widely available rather than still waiting for imports from china

You should also make a video on how Apple software-locks certain funcionalities in your iphone just because you made the repair from anywhere else other than Apple. How you lose FaceID, True Tone, front camera and Auto-brightness if you change your display yourself, how you lose battery health when you change your battery yourself, portrait mode when you change the cameras and much more. Apple is the only company in the smartphone industry that punishes their user for third party repair. I don't think an iphone user even owns their iphone, more like a rent from Apple.

I am downvoting this because this well researched video needed slow explanation, at least 15-20 min. But 5 min?? I didn't get anything. You guys are good, but you need to slow down. Also you should've mentioned the repair cost as % of each phone price, opportunity lost.
