What he saying is nobody is lending, because their assets are shit and they dont trust anyone and want a higher over night rate . There for freezing the markets, then fed has to step in and lend money at cheap overnight rates , trouble is brewing big time

Paddy Hirsch is a legend. Super clear and helpful for those of us who have to interact with the banks but can't always understand what they're saying!

I like how J.P. Morgan is the clearing bank in this example and he brings up the obvious problems. Fast forward to last week and we now know who triggered the 2019 repo issues....

KZfaq algorithms are working perfectly to suggest this 10 year old video just in time this week. This person's videos explaining about bonds, yields, notes are so much valuable right now. Crazy how market cycle works. These videos were posted during last recession. You explanation is so valuable and timeless.

Repo Market (for big banks) is like a Pawn Store (regular people).

Impossible this is a new video. The fed is doing the same thing. The banks are doing the same thing. The banks get the bailout and keep the assets. That's double dipping. The consumer is without the home, (asset) and picks up the bailout (taxes) check.

That was a really great job. Just got of work, its 2 am: here in Chicago. Thought I'd do some browsing real quick. Now I'm going to bed a smarter man. LOL Thanks

That was a really good presentation. Up to the point that he just stopped giving out information. And said something about “needing a drink”. I got the feeling like the last 25% of that presentation was self censored ! There’s some trouble in these markets. And the people who know what’s up or not talent. But this presentation gave a few more dots to connect...

One of the biggest problems with our banking system is the disaster called accounting. Some of the methods used are fraudulent, but no one seems to care. Putting possible future profits on a balance sheet and using them for collateral on investments is criminal.

If this gentleman explained the clearance prossess, I would agree that he explained well. My problem with him is he said banks take deposits and lend them out. By law banks don't take deposits nor do they lend money. Banks are in the business of buying securities. That loan contract you sign is a security a debt instrument that the bank purchases from you and they put it on the ledger as an asset. The money owed to you is put on the ledger as an accounts payable liability. The bank calls it a customer deposit. It is money creation out of thin air. This money creation is good for us if directed towards GDP growth through increased productivity. Business investment in new technology and upgrades. This money directed towards asset purchases is disastrous asset bubbles and if towards consumption, inflation.
