I can't believe I'm watching/hearing... 1) The Residents doing a cover that actually sounds like the original. 2) A Beatles song that actually suits The Residents without modifying the music.

This was London Sinfonietta playing "Remembering The Beatles", a tribute to the Sgt. Pepper's album. For each song they had a different guest singing or playing. The Residents sung and "played" on "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite", whereas other songs featured Peter Murphy, Marianne Faithfull, Beth Orton and Jarvis Cocker. It all happend in Milan, Italy, on the 21st September 2007. I wish they had released a CD, it was amazing!

Of course it's Homer Flynn behind the skull. There's a clip from The Residents Radio Special from 1977 with Homer being the DJ but using a fake name (Syd Powel) where he interviews fellow Resident Jay Clem. His voice there is very similar to the skull guy in this video.

Peter Murphy, Marianne Faithful, Beth Orton, Jarvis Cocker, Russell Mael, and others I can't remember did perform with the London Sinfonietta. The place was shitty (a parking area outside the Milan Expo!), but the concert was just amazing. Of course, The Residents were the best moment. Peter Murphy was taking some pics with them in the backstage! It was magic.

I was at this concert!!! Amazing stuff. They played just one song in a big program that was a tribute to The Beatles' "Sergeant Pepper's". They were the best, useless to say! And Peter Murphy of the Bauhaus was having pics with them in the backstage later on :D

This is awesome! I jus saw them on Oct 12th. It was the coolest thing I've ever seen. By the way for all of you fighting over whether Homer is the singing Rez or not. Why do you care? If you see The Bunny Boy show you'll know it's not Homer. He's unmasked. If you care about who they are, you're just detracting from their allure and mystery.

Not at all. Don't get me wrong, I love The Beatles version, and John deserves all the credit for writing such a great song. The only thing I don't like about The Beatles version is the delivery of the vocals. In my opinion, this song needs that carnival barker delivery that The Residents do.

Why not? Keyboard mag told Residents were in the nineties betatesters for many synths, and I guess they made cd-roms earlier than most others. And isn´t that sampling on the first album, that Chubby Checker bit "let´s twist again" stomach muscles! For certain kind of humour they were the first too.

Wasn't putting the boot in, was merely surprised to see The Residents embracing "convenient" new tech (the kind of thing I expect half-arsed techno DJs to do). Got no probs with sampling/whatever, The Residents've made a l-o-n-g career out of skitting other folks' work afterall!
