Trap just wrapped up his military service in South Korea and has decided to return as a StarCraft 2 pro gamer. In this first series back he takes on ByuN, one of the world's best Terrans.

I can’t really blame the pro players for coming back to arguably the best video game. I myself often come back, and I’m only a platinum player 😂

do you stick around plat with taking breaks? the reason i ask is because, i was top Diamond, took a solid few months break, came back and lost to a Gold 2. checked the profile and he/she was a legit gold 2. pretty humbling. i also hit 30 yrs old, so that could be what made me worse at videogames. got these old slow hands now.

@@matts3425 I’m usually at low diamond, but drop back down to Platinum when I return. Then I’ll go up to diamond and get bored of the game for a little. Endless cycle.

I don't even play SC2. I haven't touched the game in over 10 years, but Lowko, you are the best at what you do. Really fills that hole that Husky left when he quit casting. Also, watching these high-level games is so entertaining. Will always support your content

Heya, I just randomly stumbled upon your channel while looking for StarCraft matches that were being cast in English, and I gotta say, you are by far the best I've come across! Cheers for all the quality entertainment. Not a StarCraft 2 player myself, but as a Korean, I enjoy anything StarCraft related by default, and to have someone commenting over it in English, let alone with so much enthusiasm, really does it for me. subscribedddd

Just got an idea for soft nerfing ghosts. What if sentry guardian shield interacted with emp? Idk if they should cancel eachother out (the bubble takes the hit for the army and disappears) or just reduce the impact under the bubble.

Spoiler: Agreed stargate openers are great in PVT. I hate robo opener, its easily countered. I wish toss would stasis ward on terrans 3rds /4ths. I love this opener, oracle, into charge! That's what it looks like when a toss player uses hotkeys. BW style. Ultimate control. Thanks trap for demonstrating!

Because Terran is the developer's pet. As far as I remember, Sentry shields were only in the campaign

Because SC2 is not an all-races-are-the-same-with-different-skins game. Protoss have a mobile unit that can reinforce the army remotely. They also have shields that regenerate on their own. Terrans don't regenerate anything, and _require_ an auxiliary unit to heal. It's why the game is so difficult to balance correctly, but also why it's so much more interesting than games which have the same race copy/pasted, with just a couple units or structures that are different.

Such a phenomenal game by Trap, taking down Buyn, who you would consider taking down this match due to Trap's absence. I remember watching trap games a few years back thinking he's one of the best Protoss players, because me being a bit biased due being finnish, I remember Serral had hard time competing him at the time. I really enjoy Trap's courageous aggressiveness, it's the style I do think is what works better for the Protoss, even though the meta seems favouring more careful playstyle atm. Big applause for Trap's comeback, waiting to see what position he'll take in the future, looking good.

There is the point in making RTS not actuly better then SC. I mean yeah, all RTS rn will be compared to sc2, with it's lvl, but anyway if the game will differ it will take it's place. Like DoTA and LoL, like CoD and Battlefield. You got the point

I just started watching StarCraft 2 again (since December), after I stoped playing shortly after the heart of the swarm update. And I feel like this is such a great time to get into everything, with all these legendary players joining in one by one. And I get to enjoy multiple games of everyone❤ Btw love your commentary lokow, you always try and sprinkle in some knowledge wich should be common like timings for buildings and stuff. Trap back?!? And he is already this GOOD? BTW Lowko, I think you are right. Some people grow mentally from the military and/or from a break to see exactly what to do when they come back. (I was the same in FPS games, I was so good everyone would ban me for hacking.)

I actually have a good reason to why Terran is never really struggling and that's because it has the simplest game mechanics out of the three and relies the most on the players own mechanical skill, so yeah even if a terran is nerfed the best players can still get great value from the unit.

I personally don't really put any credibility in Microsoft investing in StarCraft as an RTS sequel. Everyone who worked on SC2 and made it so technically polished left Blizzard. That's how frost giant exists in the first place. I would be thrilled to see more stuff made with the franchise, but I would rather it be a spin-off than a pile of crap dressed up as an RTS.

Byun must be one of the most overated Terrans currently by a mile. He has poor resutls in gsl hand haven't gotten a single first place since 2022. Meanwhile Clem has won 3 tournaments and Maru has won 7. Byun is not the best "Strategic player" he never plays for the late game and when he gets there he almost always loses because he has no strategy for it lol
