Child psychologists have a lot of knowledge and experience on how to manage and improve child behaviors but its also important to be cautious of how you use the information you receive. Most psychological studies are done on animals and the long term benefits of these behavior changes haven't been studied well. Also, recent research shows that a type of behavior training called ABA can cause PTSD in children with autism. It's important to discipline and make sure they are responsible adults but make sure it's not through punishment and outdated "training".

agh i always get so uncomfortable whenever the parents are getting lessons on parenting on this show. I think it's great to learn the basics on how to treat your kids the best for their development, but at the same time i feel like they touch subjects that are more personal to how each individual does parenting?? but then again, im no expert.

I think it's important to remember that all the feedback that is given is not meant as direct criticism to the parents. What works for one child, will NOT work on the other. I see the way the psychologist gives advice is because there is a mismatch between the parent(s) and child where there is no mutual consistency in rules and behavior. That doesn't mean the parent and child love each other any less!
