Hey pixelated Apollo, idk if you’ll see this but I wanted to say I used to watch your videos 24/7 as a kid, you were a good part of my childhood and I dreamed about playing these games. Now I am an adult and could finally afford to get myself a pc to play these. It’s just awesome to see you’re still going strong

It comes down to Rights, EA no longer has rights to LOTR material, that falls to Embracer Group. I think that's why you can't even purchase this gem anymore and have to download it through other applications. I do agree though, they really need to consider a third LOTR RTS or even a reboot of the originals under the new owners.

Its a rights issue. EA doesn't have the rights to the Movie stuff anymore (LOTR copyright is a mess because the movies, the books, the TV shows, the cartoon movies, etc all have different copyrights) nor do they have the rights to the games anymore. To remake, sell or remaster these games, they'd have to get both back, and neither owner of them is willing to budge at all. Plus I'm not really sure we want modern EA with their hands on anything we used to love lol. They may have the same name and be the same company, but this is not the same EA from the early 2000s and late 90s. They'd probably turn it into an always online LOTR themed Fortnite knockoff or some shit laden with microtransactions and a bunch of characters getting race or gender swapped (like Magic the Gathering's LOTR set did).

I remember playing this with friends online back in the day. It is such a good game. In terms of the campaign I do prefer the first The Battle for Middle-Earth game. Good campaign is so much fun :D

yeah thats why I want him to play the age of the ring mod, it has the BFME1 campaign combined with the BFME2 missions along with a bunch of new custom maps, and all the original maps have been recreated. One mission is just frodo and the hobbits and their entire journey from the shire, to rivendel. and there is another that is amaaazing, that I dont want to spoil ;P

@@frenchmonk94 Yeah I believe so, I might be mixing with edain. But they for sure have a fellowship of the ring campaign and two towers campaign with the return of the king in development, where they also make use of the BFME2 missions as inspiration on some parts. Everything is completely done from the ground up, its really the best version of BFME I've ever played. I never completed it tho, I got stuck on the mission where frodo and sam meet faramir and then I got a new pc so I lost my save. It was damned difficult, but you gotta play smart and drag the enemy into ambushes etc.

Thing I remember most about BFME2 campaign was Erebor was nuts playing as Mordor because the dwarves spammed attacks while you were trying to build up your base and then as the Dwarves, the enemy would just bum rush through all your troops through the two open gates you couldn’t close

That was always one of the reasons I preferred BFME1 ngl. The enemy AI permanently zerg rushing your base and not even trying to fight you unless you built towers and walls to keep them from reaching your farms. Meanwhile in BFME 1 you already had walls and you could just close the gates if you were playing a Good faction, and you could spam troops as an Evil faction.

The best time I've ever had on this game is playing Men of the West on Helm's Deep and only using heroes against mass waves of orcs. It's epic. Would recommend for your next video! Or a match on Old Brown Lands. One of the best maps.

Love the BfME games! Quick tip to make it easier to select your army: You can assign quick select option to units. Select the units you want to group and then press Ctrl+1. Once you have done that, you can quickly select that group by simply pressing 1. Select another group and assign them to number 2 by pressing Ctrl+2. I always have my heroes under quick select 9 (and 8 if I want to separate them in 2 groups). I usually have the rest of my army under number 1. If it's really big battles, I may separate them in whatever way suits the campaign. Sometimes I have all infantry in one group, archers in another and cavalerie in yet another. In other scenario's I make battle groups of 2 infantry, combined with 2 archers. Anyway, that can be very useful in keeping control over your army and respond very quickly to attacks. You can even group your builders (usually number 0 for me, so you can quickly select them and bring them to safety in case of an attack).

Hey Apollo, great video! Heres some tips i like to use. As you discovered, the command limit will also limit your heroes, which then limits all other upgrades to your castle until it is either finished or canceled. Pressing B will switch to the nearest builder, and that key should be defaulted. Cntrl + a number will assign the currently selected troops to a squad. Then, press the coresponding number to select the squad. A good setup i like is 1 for infantry, 2 for archers, 3 for cav, and 4 for siege. I plave my heroes in their coresponding roles. No matter the situation, always leave 1 or 2 troops at the base for defense. This game, as im sure you are aware, used the rock paper scissors scheme, cav beats archers and non spear units, spears beat cav, and large units. Archers beat infantry, and infantry is a meat shield. Use cav to destroy resource buildings that the enemy has placed. They are quick and in and out. The gold after you destroy a map enemy (goblin cave, troll cave, etc.) Aslo provides the hero that collects it with a huge exp boost. That is why faramir leveled before Boromir. I hope you play more of this as it is my childhood favorite. I also love your videos and will continue to support you. I hope you dont mind my tips.

I wrecked entire armies with Sauron, then he got wrecked because I went into the enemies base and he just got like tons of units on him and I was like oops. I forgot he wasn't undefeatable.

31:00 "why is it not upgrading?" because in one building, unit and upgrade are in one queue. You can see it happens at barrack/archery range, and the same applied to fort (as it was waiting for your Faramir spawn)

You should definitely look into the age of the ring mod, I used to play this as a kid and loved it but now I can only play it with the mod. It's just the base game on steroids adding/changing factions, units, maps and making everything look way better

I say again CHECK OUT AGE OF THE RING MOD if you can, it has an AMAZING campaign that follows the movies/book storyline including the BFME2 Campaign with multiple storylines along with incredible fellowshop driven story! I cant suggest it enough. The campaign isnt just a RTS campaign its a rts/rpg campaign which is extremely story driven. Please please for the love of god try it man, I know you'll get shivers just playing the first mission for the battle of the last alliance. Anyhow, BASED AF apollo, much love!

you had your upgrades "frozen" because you didnt had enough comand points (lost farms) to respawn faramir, so the upgrades down the cue were waiting for faramir to finish

You can try age of the ring mod for this it is from the creators of remastered bfme project they just finalized the mod last year or the year before that i cant tell the passing of time much but what i can is that mod is packed with races and more lorey faction roster there is rivendell woodland realm harad gondor rohan erebor misty mountains and lothlorien there might be more i cant remember but give it a shot it also has its custom campaign and the game is a little more higher quality upgrades arent light sabers and armor upgrades arent gold coloring (armor upgrades are my favorite it adds custom armor it is really cool)

I'd like to see a mode or an upcoming game where in battle for middle earth each race has the ability to choose their fortress upgrade to like star fortress, square, circle etc etc... and each one is unique. Because in real life there were different types of fortresses built. That be cool.

There is a hotkey for every building and build action and a hotkey for every military action. I know this cause back in the day if you wanted to survive a multiplayer battle you have to memorize all of em lol

Try this to use formations: - Select units you want to move - Click and hold right mouse button on destination - Click and hold left mousbe button additionally to right button - Move cursor to make your formation face the right direction Also try to use the Attack order instead of simple Move order. Your selected units will attack any enemy on its path then. Shortcut for this is A Hope this will make your game easier.
