The Rev showed up Joey Jordison on so many levels. I love Joey but The Rev will always be my absolute #1 favorite no matter what

Who cares.. They're both awesome. I don't understand why people always feel the need to compare and catagorize everything.

jimmy inspired me to be a drummer and because of him I am 15 but a man because I learned from this man, he did not know it but I looked up to him and shadows growing up from 6 to now listening to them and rocking out, I remember the first song I heard by them I was six and I heard beast and the harlot and I was so drawn to the shredding of dates, and the vocals of mat, and most of all the drumming of the rev, johnny and zacky where awesome too I looked upto this band and through them and the rest of metal I became who I am today.

Same here A7X changed my perspective of music. Been drumming for about a year now and playing guitar for about 4 yrs and I can't stop. Unfortunately I didn't start getting into A7X until after The Rev passed. I only wish I would've known about them before so I could've seen him live. Now I've seen em live twice and they put an amazing show, but the solos that Arin and Syn are nothing as mind-blowingly awesome as this solo, specially the drums.

How ya doing now? Do you still play drums?

Similar story for me except it all started with Metallica. The fast, gallopy riffs along with the drums which were strange in terms of music, but just made sense when you heard it. I started to explore other thrash bands like Megadeth and Anthrax which I love equally. Then is started to go back in time, and listen to bands like Iron Maiden, Diamond Head and Judas Priest. Only in the last few months have I listened to more recent metal such as A7X. They took everything from all the other bands I've mentioned and made it their own. The harmonies, the riffs, the drums and the aggressive but melodic vocals all blew me away when I heard my first A7X song, Second Heartbeat. I see lots of similarities with other bands in A7X. I tend the think of The Rev as being how Lars would be had he kept getting better rather than lazy. I've played drums for nearly a year now. Now that I've discovered A7X it's pretty much all I listen to and I'm desperate to get good enough to play some of their songs. They sound pretty fun and I look forward to the challenge of playing some the crazy and progressive stuff The Rev wrote. RIP Jimmy, I'm gutted that I didn't start listening to this band while you were alive.
