Revelation is a book that many people are uneasy about studying. It is mysterious and puzzling. There are beasts, plagues, metaphors, symbols, visions, and strange beings. Many of the best Bible scholars in the world do not agree on how to interpret it. This difficulty has led many to avoid the book altogether. Those who do are missing out.
It is not focused on beasts and plagues. It is the Revelation of Jesus. It is the record of how Jesus will be unveiled so that "every eye" will see Him.
This Bible study of Revelation 1:1-3 is the first in a series, which will take you through the book of Revelation one passage at a time. Each Bible lesson is focused on helping you study the basic meaning and then obey it. Revelation is a book filled with hope and promise. That starts with the introduction to Revelation here in chapter 1. I hope you will get as much out of it as I did.

Thank you for a very helpful, meaningful teaching. I love that you give concise ways useful to accomplishing obedience to the Word. I learned a lot about the purpose of Revelation just from the first sentence, "the Revelation of Jesus." What did you learn from this study? And what do you hope to learn from the study of the book of Revelation? Let us know in the comments.

How are you going to understand much about Revelation before you study its precursor, the book of the prophet Daniel? Daniel and Revelation should be studied together, especially where the times and events overlap, but only after first getting well acquainted with the lessons both spiritually and historically presented in Daniel. Then Revelation makes a lot more sense. This is not to say that the book of Daniel is the only one to reference when reading Revelation. All the books of the Bible have something to offer in its meaning, but Daniel in particular. The Spirit of Jesus will bring us over these passages in Daniel and Revelation repeatedly and even when we get a firm grasp on them, He still has more to show us.
