I hunted a bear with a level 1 revolver by firing three shots into it and then running into quonset garage to reload, then returning. I killed the bear with bleedout, gathered some meat, made it back to the garage ( it had ran out onto the ice), went to bed, and forgot to drink water. I promptly died of thirst. Twas a good run.

I love shooting the recycled cans with the revolver, the physics are realistic and it has sounds and everything!

The revolver is the natural explorer weapon I feel. Moving into a new territory, and want to pack light to loot and explore, but to also be able to ward off or score an easy kill? The revolver want you want. Especially if you're beelining to a known weapon location or high loot zone, where that need for more advanced tools might be met. Move light, move fast, set up as needed.

I saw a bear in the distance on my way to Jack rabbit Island, but left my rifle back at the garage. I managed to sneak around the bear and get on the island but I couldn't just go on raiding without having a pop with my revolver, so at a distance that I thought the rifle would struggle at hitting I let off a round. Bang, then another, Bang, the bear didn't even notice and carried on walking to her Den, then BANG BANG I let the 3rd and 4th round off they both hit the target and she ran off in pain. I could see her near the cabins in tee distance slow down and thought well that's that. I looted the house and had a summit soda only to come outside and head to the cabins were thr bear was to loot. Risky move after pissing her off, but I needed supplies. I could not believe what I found. She was dead bled out and 33% frozen. I harvested as much as possible and slowly walked back to the garage whilst the aurora lit the skies. This was my very first bear kill yesterday. They just don't make games like this.

Once I tried to kill bear with that and i lost my 300 day game picos of that...

As new player I've found the revolver to be an excellent self defence tool as even a missed shot can scare away those pesky wolfs. That being said I did find myself crutching on it a bit too much and as a result I was slow to realise the potential for defence with other tools such as rocks and flares.

I just found my first revolver in the long dark and I feel like a cowboy.

10 hours in mostly blind run, new to the game finally stumbled upon rifle in middle of know where on hill, by dead body in pleasant valley.. no pistol yet. now i know i need some green sappling to make bow, i cant find it. what brought me to here. im learning so much from ur vids

I started a new stalker game and waited a whole in-game month to find a revolver, which I finally found at the broken railroad, only to find another one in new condition in a cave right next to my home base in mystery lake, I was a bit furious about it lol, but hey free spare revolver.

Could you mention how the revolver does in a wolf struggle?

I guess when I first picked it up I tested it on a deer and insta killed it... Made me think it was super powerful :/

The rifle takes longer between shots, the revolver can shoot rapidly and stay on target.

I went from living destroyed to a mysterious lake dying of hunger and cold, now I'm fine and I live in a bunker I have more than 50 bullets for each weapon In all this I did not find a revolver or a rifle and what bothers me the most is that, having so many bullets and so many cleaning kits but not a weapon.

bow and revolver vs just rifle is the way to go based on what do you want to do. Do you want to move between bases ? revolver with 12 spare ammo and bow with up to 5 arrow is the way to go. Do you want to hunt that huge bear or moose ? get that rifle with 5 loaded ammo in it and turn back to your base. They weigh about the same but carrying weapons based on objective is the optimal solution. You wouldn't want to defend yourself with rifle for simple wolves. You need those high calibers for bear and moose until you get to bow skill mastery 5. which is why carrying with you should carry with revolver. hunt deers with bow and defend yourself with revolver against wolves.

Maybe add, that the revolver can still be used while you have one single sprained wrist..

I prefer the revolver when it comes to killing wolves because you don't get the tiring effect when aiming as with the rifle and I've managed to get a successful head shot insta kill every time. I've also managed to hit a wolf on the head with a stone, causing it to flee. But, if I want to deter wolves, I just use a torch or flare.

I use a marien flare to keep bears at bay, And carry 2 revolvers, I unload both of them into the bear. It does the trick. I got level 5 skill on day 70 on a stalker custom.

Revolver is a much easier to get Bow Imo. It can kill reliably while moving to locations. Bow is still better imo but getting arrowheads can be tough early game. For every arrow head or arrow I have found in this game I had found over 20 bullets for revolver.

I don't know if you said this, but it can be used in struggles and sometimes can land a shot, I've killed wolves in struggles with a shot of the revolver, that said it is rarer of an occurrence and risky since the character Will or Astrid alternatively hit the wolf in the head with the butt of the revolver, which doesn't do as much damage.

I shot a wolf in the shoulder and it hardly flinched. I was bitten pretty bad that day. My ski jacket was bitten worse.

the revolver is best used as a defensive weapon...not a hunting weapon. I tried shooting a bear with it before...not effective at killing bears at all. This is why i generally use a rifle as a primary against a bear and revolvers as a defensive weapon against an attacking wolf.

I bought this game yesterday and I really like it, the dam was a scary place and I didn't find revolver so I will start a journey to coastal highway. Watched some of your vids and they are really helpful, keep it up !

For me my runs never last long enough to get a bow and arrows so I tend to prefer the revolver

i've killed a Moose with a Revolver, it took me like... 10-12 rounds.

I don’t know why, but despite being very used to firing it and having been my most used weapon, I still cannot aim with it ( I blame my FPS).
