All Suge had to do was let Dre run all the content in the studio and keep the gang scene away from the label while laying in the cut like Al Haymon. If he followed that, he would probably be a billionaire today. Dr Dre was the reason behind all of it.

@@locofrazo No it was not. Easy equation here. Why did NWA and Ruthless blow up? Answer: Dre. Why did Deathrow blow up? Answer: Dre. Why did Aftermath get bigger then Deathrow ever was: Answer: Dre. And then take a look at the other players: Where is Suge? Answer: Broke as fuck in jail. Where is the genious DAZ: A nobody... DAZ continued to be average as long as it was a coop with Snoop and DRE. You can see the picture clear as day yourself. Why did many of the beefs between labels even exist in the firstplace? Answer: They fought over who could have Dre on the label.. you see.. DAZ wouldnt even be anybody without Dre.. he learned everything from Dre, even used his equipment.

in MY opinion deathrow in 96 with pac, dre and snoop was the peak of hiphop not only for west cost but in general. Like imagine if things were different and better and they carried on to have eminem and 50 as a part of the label, the early 2000’s would have been theirs too!!
@dupes6248
@dupes6248 2 жыл бұрын
I totally agree that was the peak. However there is no way possible that things would have worked out any different thanks to suge, he was just far too reckless and honestly a very poor businessman. He did not have the humility to put his pride on the back burner and that will Doom anybody. It would have been really really cool to see Tupac under just Dre's Wing. If suge was not a part of it, I genuinely believe that Dre would still have him alive today. But he did not have that kind of leadership or someone who had his best interest at heart when Dre left. Instead he was left with somebody who didn't care about his future, he only cared about how much money he could make him in the short term. Tupac had the world at his fingertips and it was ripped away from him by a jackass with the mind of a bratty 13-year-old. Pac was really learning things you could see just before he died just how much he was learning and if somebody was there to stoke that education instead of trying to extinguish it, Tupac could have had an even bigger impact than he already has, and without a doubt the absolute best catalog of any artist. It genuinely breaks my heart that that was ripped away from him in multiple ways.

Trying to compensate poor personal hygiene by giving useless presents to complete strangers while travelling abroad should not be considered as representing your country in an orderly fashion. Also I would like to point out that having a deep frozen woman’s bandage that was litteraly drenched with her smeling monthly blood before putting it in the freezer as a snack on a hot and sunny day might be refreshing but is nothing else than downright disgusting.

Recklessness is a great strategy when you have nothing to lose, but Suge never learned to outgrow it. I am fully convinced that Suge directly led to the death of Pac, Eazy (he joked once about how easy it would be for someone to slip aids in a needle in someone’s arm), Biggie, and many more. He asked for trouble, and he got it many times over.

@@ruopfukire3933 It was mostly Diddy. It was a mistake for him to take Biggie to Cali after Tupac’s death. Biggie had some part to play because he made a song called “Going Back To Cali”. Another reason why I say that is because he performed Long Kiss Goodnight(2Pac Diss) on the LA radio station. Sad to say, but Biggie should’ve known better. RIP though.

Concise and informative video. I was in high school, living in Southern California during the beginnings of "Death Row," and I remember hearing a lot about these events when they were happening. This video filled in many of the blanks from that era so thank you for that. I'd like to offer a suggestion for a future video topic, that being of director F. Gary Gray, who, aside from becoming a feature film director (starting with 1995's "Friday") has directed numerous music videos for artists ranging from Dr. Dre and Ice Cube (Gray's directorial debut being another Ice Cube project, that being the "It Was a Good Day" music video,) to TLC, Cypress Hill, Outkast, and even Whitney Houston. I believe his career is quite fascinating if considering the variety of artists' music genres and even feature film genres F. Gary Gray has directed.

@@Messiah_Black Sadly. It’s a shame how it all ended. Just like Prodigy said, “You would think getting your head shot is enough but then now you wanna go against my team. You must’ve been drunk when you wrote that shit. Too bad you had to do it to your own self”. After he got shot in Quad Studios, he should’ve fell back with all the gang violence and getting back at people. He had beef with Dr Dre for leaving Death Row, which was one of the reasons for their falling out, but in all honesty it was the best choice for him because look at where he is today. Pac was smart, but he was all about revenge, rage, resentment, and retaliation. If Pac wasn’t surrounded by gangstas, he would still be here living lavish, but he messed it all up. Tupac beat up a gang member out of loyalty to the Death Row camp, but that loyalty got him killed. He had nothing to gain at the end. RIP though.
@Messiah_Black
@Messiah_Black 8 ай бұрын
@@IkennaKonkwo2-lz8lj You gotta think, Pac was only 25 at the time. As intelligent as he was, he was still young & easily ruled by his emotions. To go through being set up & shot, going to jail, & hearing all these rumors spread, thoughts of revenge was only natural. He didn’t have the foresight to see that taking this path was only going to lead to his destruction. He though he was safe being under the protection of Suge Knight & Death Row’s connections (both legal & street). So I give him some grace for his hubris now. That whole East/West era was bad (though some great music came out of it) and unfortunately, there was no positive way for that war to have ended… Ironically enough though, it wasn’t the beef w/ Bad Boy that took him out, it was his “gang affiliation.” Pac lived in California for years by staying neutral. Once he sided w/ Suge & M.O.B. That’s when he started having problems in his own backyard.

Suge went to jail because of it. Not only was Suge gone, but so was his company. As one label is down, another one is up. Don’t f-ck up any business opportunities by getting into brawls and shootouts, because another corporation will either take everything you own, or aim for the top spot. Suge didn’t learn this. He had a successful run with Death Row, but he went the wrong way with it.

Doing that would’ve altered hiphop forever. Just look at 50 Cents movie, Get Rich or Die Tryin, after Pac everyone was a banger but before Pac ppl were more careful with associating themselves with the gang culture. Had Pac never left Digital Underground gangsta rap and what it influenced would have stayed on the west coast and not spread out across the country like it did with Pac making gang culture cool.

Eazy was never touched by Suge. Even Suge denies that. Eazy was couched by Jerry Heller to exaggerate the incident so he could receive more money from Dre while at Deathrow. Suge and his Crew actually threatened Jerry Heller which is why the Jewish defense league came in and told Suge to back off.

The way Dre told the story 20 years ago: he decided he was done with Death Row and Suge’s bullshit. So he stopped going to work. Eventually Dre and Suge had words and Suge eventually showed up at Dres house and they agreed to the terms of Dre legally leaving the label. Dre gave up most or all of his royalties for the work he created while at Death Row and I think he also agrees to let Suge keep Dre’s master recordings. Basically, Dre doesn’t get paid for anything he did for Death Row after he left. And of course Suge and Dre have a fucked up personal relationship with Suge knocking up one of Dre’s baby mommas.
