its sad that in higher levels, theres troops that do the giant's job but better. other low th troops like barch have some use as cleanup troops or testing for traps, but giant is just sad

Giants are still used a lot in clan capital with super wizard attacks. In bb their special ability helps them to tank the crusher so while power pekkas outclassed them,they are still used in a lot of bb strategies

I'm a TH13 and I still use giants in my CC actually. Their swarmy nature pairs up really well as a multi-target inferno meat shield because I use bowlers and witches. They also do a decent amount of damage, meaning that if all of my troops go around the outside, they can be a last ditch effort to get the Town Hall

I feel like this concept of "power creep" has been a trend I've seen in recent games that I've played like PvZ2 and BTD6, I think this is inevitable because devs sometimes run out of ideas and just buffs, reworks, or makes a better version of an existing unit for "new content"

The problem with dragons and edrags isn't that you can pair them with balloons, that isn't a problem at all. It's that you can pair it with zap. It's extremely unfair that you can zap away all 4 buildings meant specifically to counter your main troops, spam it on one side and go make a coffee. Especially that dragzap and edragzap players don't use balloons at all, even against bases that contain single inferno towers Zap spell is the real problem with dragons, not balloons

Honestly i wouldnt mind seeing the giant get a troop space reduction at th8 from 5 to 4 housing space. It means taking 100 hs worth of giant goes from 20 giants to 25, a major difference. Perhaps even make giant AI spread out more (if there are 4 giants on one defence, go to a different defense if you can reach it)

In Clan capital I always use Giants and Super Wizards on the Capital Peak. Especially in my 2nd attack where I target the core of the base. It's literally the best strategy with Heal and Rage and Wizards clear the whole core and Capital hall in 10-15 secs while Giants tank. I also use Giants with Inferno Dragons to take down Super Dragons in the Dragon cliffs. That's the cheapest way to take down a super drag. Giants are literally one of the most used troops after Hog for me. Also, I play Clan Capital at the highest level.

I'm just th13 and I'm actually starting to like giants, more than the supergiants. They're great tank troops to defend all your ranged attack troops, especially if their hitpoints are low. Spread them good with wizards especially with buildings/defenses on the outer line. Those naked cannons and archer towers become percentage points and the threat is much less Or combine giants with a pekka, yeti's and maybe some supergiants. It'll create a great barrier of tank troop that deals a decent amount of damage for tank troops.

I still see some good giant attacks, as they dont fear infernos as much as a golem thanks to higher numbers, arent as easily distracted as pekkas, and benefit from heal spells far more than other tanks thanks to the AoE nature of heals. In that regard their biggest downsides left is being vulnerable to spring traps, and being susceptible to splash damage once their healing is gone.

Main problem is giants being very vulnerable too splash damage which sort of negates their advantage of having higher hp per housing space than golems

What killed giants is that with every TH level you get more traps (spring traps)

I stopped using Giants at Town Hall 7 because Hog Riders are just better.

Giants and Valkyries are my most favourite troop. But both of them is JUST A MEMORY for many players. They are still effective in high th with a high skill player. But Giant is still used as mini-tank, tanking Heroes for veeeery short time.

8:14 IDK but I saw a lot of them in strategy with Super Wizards and heals(In Clan Capital).And still at lower town halls( 6 max when there was a lot)

Well Giants in the Clan Capital are not as useless as the TH and BH Giants, they work pretty well in tanking only the wall damage buff being totally useless when Battle Ram exist. For me they work for clean up/set up attacks where I dont bring strong troops but multiples small troops to take down outer defences while funneling and setting up for a bigger and better attack next combat since spells last for 2 battles.

it is because of removal of elixr while training troop cause back in the day giants were used in farming cause they didnt take much resources but now we can train them withou the need of elixr

They should give stronger lab upgrades to lower townhall troops that are bad from a certain townhall range (while making the hero spawning worse cause then the spawns would be too good)

Super giants are actually tanky and deal decent damage, they also break walls pretty fast, I'd say normal giant is dead after th8 but super giants are decent at th12, I've used multiple super giant strategies in th12 and surprisingly, they do well.

I use giants lots at townhall 15, they help support my sui attacks and tank splash or flame flinger

While Giants are currently useless it's variants are op - Boxer Giants paired with a Bomber and Cannon Cart are one of the most op strategies if used efficiently. - Super Giants is great when paired with any strategies except Hybrids and Valks, They're generally used when paired with Bowlers/Super Bowlers. - Super Giants in Clan Capitals are one of the most efficient tanks. While there are a lot of tanks better than Giants, It's variants are way better and more efficient than the original.

I think giants at higher levels should serve more of a support tank, not as a main tank for it's low housing space. Hell some pro players seldomly use it for tanking clean up troops at outer defenses

I don’t know, I think if the giant and Valkyrie get a rework that would be weird since they’ve been in the game longer than most of the new troops.

Giants still have a use as Funnel formers alongside wizards, my argument includes: small troop space- allowing you to have more space in your camps for troops that actually will try to go for the center Tanky enough- they will be able to last long enough for wizards to do their thing and break whatever could distract your main army from the funnel cost efficient- if you are running late in a clan war, or just wanting to farm with a decent army (instead of one where you just spam your troops without thinking), cooking up enough giants to tank enough, is simply more time saving than a pair of lava hounds or golems Memes- Imagine the looks on your enemies once they find out of all the tank troops you could have used to 3 star their base, you used Giants XD (add in Valkyries to rub some extra salt in that wound too)

I remember using giants and wizards in th 12 back when th 12 had been out for a couple of months idk how but that was fairly easy and it worked

I do like to use anywhere between 2 to 4 giants + 4 to 6 wizards in my attacks to funnel enemy bases in war for a queen charge, so i take very little housing space for the core of my attack. I feel this is a legitimate way to use Giants, as the cheapest tank to hide wizard or other troops for a funnel

Basicly devs could increase Giants housing space from 5 to 15-20, Make his model way larger, increase his health x3 or x4 times and x3 or x4 more damage minimum - his changes could make giant more logic (in trailers giants are +x6 times bigger than regular troops and even x2 bigger than pekka when i game giant is only x2 times bigger than basic troops) which is dump

Giants can be useful as test troops at higher levels and I think they are at a fine position since obviously a troop like that will be come less useful as bases become larger.

I only use giants with the flame flinger, to pop tesla or tank a mortar or even and x-bow. Other than that it's just a bad use of housing space

You forgot to mention the only comeback of giants I remember... Around the time of the bowler release, HGHB (healers, giants, hogs, bowlers) became a thing, especially at th9 Edit: Just in case anyone is completely lost: On th9 you'd have the bowlers in your cc (obviously)

It kinda sucks though as you get further in the game basically it’s air troops attacking you not many foot soldiers the giants are sadly in most cases obsolete

Its because were getting alot of aoe towers such as the scattershot (i forgot name "spell tower?") Eagle artillery town halls having multiple targets having more damage per shot than a multi inferno and worst thing is it can get launched by spring traps (we only use the giants early since around town hall 5 theres like 2 spring traps and a small base and adding an archer is also good giant+archer) But i also use giants when i was at town hall 10 with wizard combo and rage+heal spell could get me 3 star some town hall 10 like around me winning is 30% to 3 star it but mostly 1 star it because of spring traps and got bored and use dragon spam until i reached town hall 11 and used e-dragons since town hall 11 have max unit capacity of 260 i could use 8 e-dragons and 4 balloons which is very dominating the battle field with a warden Believe me or not I ALWAYS use the giant in clan capital my units it Giants+electro/super wizard and battle ram my spells is 3 skeletons spells and i mostly do 3 attempts to fully star a base and if 2 attempts i usually get 90% and sometimes fully stars it

Air attack at TH 13 and above is significantly too OP (only for drags, and lavaloons) but this can achieve only if the heroes are high enough to make a funneling. One low level hero can make a difference in attacking.

The giant is cool, but with the Golem and the Barb King are better tanks. I do recommend Giants for lower Town Halls though.

The problem with clash of clans, i mean not just clash of clans, but alot of games in generally, is that the developers have this habit of accommodating pro players, speedrunners and personal friends, i promise you, the only reason why attacks have gotten so hard, is to make it a challenge for pro players, while having disconcern of the normal players which is about 80% of clash of clans player base, just to accommodate that minority, i have been playing this game for 9 years, and i learned that you have to be an actual strategizer in order to have success in high Town halls, once you get to Town Hall 11, you won't get 3 stars by attacking like an amateur, even if you have maxed troops.

Such a bad comparison between a giant and bb king, Would you compare Archer vs Archer queen? Comparing 1 golem to 1 giant when you should be comparing 1 golem to 6 giants which would be the equal housing space. The main reason why giant is mainly not viable anymore is because as bigger Town came, they came with more walls and bigger bases, giants are slow and not fast enough to clear the entire base. The easiest fix to seeing more of giants is to make them deal 30x damage to walls and a higher walking speed.

You can still consistently 3 star opponents with giant armies th7-9. TH 10 is where it gets tricky. But yeah, starting at th7 it just becomes inefficent due to other better army choices. Its still possible to 3 star with giants though. Klaus litwrally 3 stared TH14 using 30 giants 😂
