Let's look at the big picture. If you asked me in 2019 when Liverpool was at the top of their game, I would have told you they needed significant rebuilding circa 2022. That does not mean pushing senior players like Salah, necessarily, but having the up and coming starting 11 on the roster who are 25 or younger. With that idea in mind, FSG has made good progress with the front line. Jota, Diaz, Nunez, Gapko are not luxury acquisitions, but necessary recruitments as Mane, Origi, Minamino, Lalala went out the door, and Salah, Firmino are getting older. I do not see these expenditures as noteworthy at all for a top club. Also, FSG has been okay-ish in rebuiliding the back: Tsimikas, Konate, Phillips, Ramsey, Kelleher. There is a bit more work to do here. The problem is midfield is nowhere. Signing on Thiago was a good move, but he was never going to a replacement for Wijnaldum. Creative players who could unlock a low block are great against a low block, when the Reds expect to have >60% ball possession. But the energy to physically dominate in the midfield has been slowly ebbing away. We saw the famously eye opening collapse against Aston Villa (7-2) some two years ago, to illustrate what Liverpool looks like when the midfield gets lost. While we have not seen anything so woeful since, we have seen small tastes of similar ills, more and more often. A few times last season. Many times this season. I feel like the problems were are seeing this season were foreseeable, based on last season.

As said i just loves your spot on analysis,but what really boggels my mind is, how can a team ends up with with 80-90% ball possesion yet still ends up losing big time,not once, twice but in so many games? Maybe with your good insight you might shed some reasonable facts to satisfy my mood as a ordinary towards LP FAN.My personal might npt be explained in a most professional way but the way i see it,the mid, defenders just too much back/sideway passes and just cant get that supply chain to the forwards, that makes the forwards looks weak cause the less ball they gonna get the less chances they will have to score. Even when our midfielders, nameless Henderson is in a positions to make use of that goalscoring opportunity, no he'll rather makes an unnecessary extra backpass either the defenders or to his goalkeep.thats just from my point of view as a LP FAN

Wijnaldum left years ago and we still talkin about him at liverpool? Mane wanted to leave and accept a new challenge in his career. Jota thiago and diaz are all great signings they are just injured. We cant judge nunes and gakpo, they just got here. Klopp ljinders nothing to prove. Fsg great owners brought liverpool from mediocre to champs. They'll be the first ones to know who they need to sign next. The new and old players need time to gel together

This coming summer transfer window will see a midfielder come in. For sure. The season after our premier league winning season when we had that crisis of lack of defenders? Something certain fans (myself included) had tagged as an issue? Konate came in. I think we'll see some midfielders come in, but what kind of midfielders is the question. I agree that Klopp's prime Liverpool had a midfield of workman-like dynamos who'd hunt you down and stifle...but it seems like Klopp wants more creativity in that midfield as well. A lot is made of Tiago Alcantara's passing but he's also someone who will hack your legs off in a tackle. The only downside with him was his age. We need more midfielders who bring steel but can also create. Bajetic is another prime example of this. A midfield of Tiago, Bajetic and a player of similar ilk could rejuvenate this squad. I'd go with Sofyan Ambrabat after his heroics for Morocoo at the World Cup

Aggreed, it seem that here on the KZfaq chanals is the best expert advice from the FAN BASE then all those highly qualified or professional advisors that surrounds Klopp. Maybe Klopp should invest in a permanent workdesk whose job it should ne to 24/7scrolls the KZfaq chanals and analyze all the positve professional comments from the FANS, he'll be supprize what he and his too advisors could get out of it, A BETTER LP😊

We need belingham and another cheap midfielder that can come off the bench around 60 min mark and even start some games. We also need a really high energy aggressive defender to back up and rotate with vvd and konate as vvd gets old we need to be able to rotate him more often. With the new youngster Stefan bajcetic and Harvey Elliot we will have good youth whilst we keep hendo Thiago and Fabinho for the last few years to help teach Stefan and Elliot.

@@Eat-My-Goal The shame about it is Klopp has proven he does not need gold-plated players. He can coach good players of the right kind to bring world class performances. The midfield he relied on to win a CL and PL trophy were not expensive: Wijnaldum (23M), Henderson (20M), Fabinho (39M). Liverpool is like watching a marathon where your man trips and falls on his face in the final leg because FSG decided to save a few bucks on cheap shoelaces, having spent the millions to train for the race.

Liverpool had press resistant midfielders like Thiago, Keita, Fabinho (in form). Henderson and Milner can't half turn, same with Nunez. Then theres injuries to Matip and Komate adding to Joe Gomez blunders.

Bro is just waffling Injuries is CLEARLY our problem...Henderson and Thiago are going nowhere instead we should sell Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita Then sign Jude Bellingham and Ruben Neves or Kovacic...All we need are midfielders who are brave like Thiago and not scared to turn when the opposition is 15 meters away like Fabinho...And we need to switch the ball more often(allowing our full backs to push forward)and leave the build up job to Ruben Neves and Bajcetic or Thiago when Jude Bellingham is at attacking midfield(opposing ariel threats every now and then)

Selling Sadio Mane was the downfall of Klopp and Liverpool am sorry to say. You should have done everything to keep him. He asked for more money; you should have paid him and kept him. He was their lucky charm. Mane defended, attacked and did everything to press defenders and score. Sallah is lost without Sadio Mane that’s why he’s struggling. Mane was the energy in the team. Big mistake Liverpool

Jones has not yet exhibited the athleticism to be a natural Klopp midfielder. He has enough positives and he is young enough that he should not be written off. But he needs to be a bit stronger/fitter to make a good starter. Unfortunately, his struggles with a partial stress fracture means his fitness is not going to suddenly improve for while now.

The big downfall is klopp negligence in world class mid field. Tiago, elliot, keita Fabinho they are way too too average. Henderson is still fine. Klopp need to do something aggressive in mid field!!

momentum kept us going last season the rot of of the started in 2018-2019 season we had only at the time Fabinho as only defensive midfielder and Wijnaldum + Henderson as only box-to-box midfielders as the jury was out on Keïta & Chamberlain be good enough as rotation option 2019-2020 season was when won the premier league title but still question marks about first-team & squad 2020-2021 season probably the worst transfer window under Klopp, again miss a backup for Fabinho that 3 seasons without adequate backup, sell Lovren, two right full back, Lallana with no replacements buy Thiago 2021-2022 season klopp's decisions in the transfer market got even worse Henderson was get slower and slower, Thiago clearly not good enough for the Premier League 4 seasons without adequate backup for Fabinho Keïta & Chamberlain proved not good enough and too injury prone 2022-2023 season is has be worst transfer window under Klopp that's just highlights of Klopp judgement regarding the squad first team and transfers

The only people who are saying Mane is the reason for this slump are Africans who don't even watch Liverpool play and who have found a reason to hate Liverpool. These issues were apparent from last season. It's so annoying because Mane isn't a midfielder, 1 MIDFIELDer in 4 years is pathetic and FSG should be solely blamed. Now even the defence needs work ,Gomez was pathetic against Madrid,Matip can't stay fit long enough and Konate seems to be picking up more and more injuries. FSG need to leave or back Klopp. That's it.

Alexander-arnold should be moved to the right midfield instead of selling him, Nunez needs to go and learn how to finish,if he can make good use of his opportunities,he would perform.. Salah is old... Has lost his initial energy and should be gotten rid of🙏
