@@sidtreesin904 they wont buy off his opponent but they will likely give him a favorable match-up. The amount of up and comers that the UFC have gotten behind just like Paddy to then lose horribly is shows if they have done it at all then it has been very rare. The amount of legal trouble that would result in if caught is very serious. Not to mention almost every fighter is there to make a career, it only takes a few loses to end your career inbthe UFC and not many people would willingly screw their dream to become champ and take that loss. This isnt PRIDE or Boxing, you dont get alot of leeway in the UFC. What they will do is make a legitimate fight that favors the person they want to win. I mean look at that last fight he took alot of damage. If they were gonna rig fights they wouldnt have made that fight at all. That outcome is on the judges. Yeah alot of people thought Paddy lost but not everyone did, Chael Sonnen didnt think it was a Robbery and there wasnt massive booing like there have been in alot of other terrible split decisions. We have seen the biggest up and comers and cash cows in the UFC get beat.

@@nflsportsesport4248Not a McGreggor fan but I personally can't even fathom why people would even compare Paddy to that guy. Like mf at least Connor had the champion mentality early on and proved it with the double champ status. Paddy couldn't even properly beat some random guy whom 90% even knew existed. feels like this vid is incomplete - you didnt talk about his downfall really at all, missed a huge part of the recent events out really. could of gone into detail more about the beef with Ariel + spoke more about how social media has turned on him because of his after fight interview; this seemingly been a tipping point. felt like you didnt wanna say much of how you felt or speculate much, which is of course understandable but opinions and speculation is absolutely okay in sports! its a huge part of it when you think about it :) very well made however, production quality is up there and you smashed the script writing (although maybe a little too surgical) it was a good overview of the situation for casuals who dont know much about the sport. subbed either way!

I think the biggest issue with Paddy is his lack of humility. It's all well and good to be confident... but only as long as your words match your actions. His didn't match up, and he couldn't stomach admitting he fell short. He made the poor decision to double down and ended up making himself out to look like a tit. Anybody who was a fan before is now thinking twice because who wants to support a guy who is so arrogant he's delusional? No one wants to support a guy who fails to give credit where credit is due! Gordon statistically won that fight hands down - judges got it wrong and we know this due to more than 90% of media scorers watching the fight clocking Gordon as the winner. Paddy just couldn't be a man and face the cold hard reality he was benefitting from unwarranted favouritism. He also fucked up royally by not improving his defence and is now paying the consequences of that choice because EVERYONE has seen him lacking. Bro needs to look in the mirror and get right with himself because he's never going to beat the top 15 with his current mindset and skill level. Win or not, Dana and matchmakers now know he just isn't up to snuff for the big leagues! sn: coming from a former fan.

I know it's cliché etc. but one difference between McGregor and Pimblett is McGregor TRULY believes everything he says and you can really tell. After his last fight, Paddy just didn't give off the confidence he once had and everyone could sense it, and thus he lost a lot of fans because he's just faking it til he makes it, but now he's never going to make it because he's been found out to be a big faker.

It hurts a fighter. You don't want your training camp becoming a weight loss camp. Too much of the training camp is spent on losing weight and the exhaustion from cutting affects the fighters ability to focus on skill improvement and specific skills for that specific fight.

@@jktuert8630 tend to agree there. Hard to tell due to his lack of Champion (at the elite level anyway) mentality. If he commits to a Champion lifestyle, maybe gets a Trevor Whitman into his life, no reason he couldn’t complete his career saying “I’ve competed in 3 promotions and won the title in all”. He could get away with his horrible lifestyle (for a professional athlete) at the previous promotions which attest to his skill level but in the UFC, for a fighter of his caliber, it’s a full commitment to be Champ. Frankly, that’s what I seriously question. Does he even want to be Champion in the UFC or does he simply want the attention, sell wigs, make as much as he can in a short window and go be a competitive eater??? Coin flip 🙄.

Paddy doubling down and being arrogant is just a part of his personality. It doesn't take away from his achievement of just getting into the UFC. I think he's a good kid really he's just saving face. I think he has unwavering confidence in himself which all fighters should have. I think all this does is show strong mental fortitude hopefully he applies that to his diet and training and think we then have a real real star on our hands. I don't think he's an embarrassment to UK MMA he just needs refining.

It's not confidence, confidences is belief in your own competence. He is just cocky. Sadly we see this a lot in the small pond that is Europe. It does in ways people don't understand. They aint making more time. If so much of your training camp has to be focused on cutting then you are losing time on skill improvement and fight game plan. Also the more tired a fighter is the harder it is to focus when it comes to skill development. Ideally a fighter has a few extra pounds that they can cut on their own with morning road work and training camp is focused on skill.

Interestingly, BOTH Paddy and Jared Gordon's careers could benefit from their recent fight: Now, Paddy is the Bad Guy, literally 'The Baddie', who benefited from a 'crooked Decision Win' - people will pay to see him get his ass kicked, like they did with Floyd Mayweather. Paddy should sell more tickets and PPVs then ever before. And Jared Gordon is now the 'tough fighter who was ripped off' by that 'Crooked Decision'. His stock has risen and more people are supportive of his career and getting more lucrative fights is likely. He's a 'Crowd Favorite' now.

He sure doesn't make it easy on himself by gaining a shit ton of weight and not trying... you may not be in bootcamp or fight weight, but you need to always train your body, skill set, and maintain a healthy hydrated walking around weight... that weight cut so quick has to drain him terribly, he'd have so much more energy and strength if he maintained a healthy weight and trained between fights... a couple months of training and losing a shit ton of weight in that time just won't cut it going against the top guys, the guys who live that lifestyle day in and day out and never stop working.. It isn't what he says that bothers me, it's entertaining, what bothers me is how he treats himself inbetween fights...like he doesn't take the sport or his opponents seriously. He has the makings of being the next McGregor in terms of popularity and sales if he can keep his shit together throughout the entire year... It's also dangerous to gain that much and lose it so quickly, then dehydrate yourself ontop of it... it's too much on the body, especially when you do it for each and every fight.

@@chonzen1764 I meant don’t let it bring you down, don’t spend time looking at videos and comments with negative disposition towards you. I meant train like a monster and eat healthy, don’t degrade yourself with McDonalds, etc. Carry yourself like a world champion, not a lad. But I see what you did there, haha 😝. I agree with you, protect that chin. It’s a dangerous Hubris to assume these guys won’t knock you out one day, holding your chin out like that. I hope he does win. I don’t care if he loses along the way, does anyone? All the greats get clapped sometimes. Not a big deal. His story and star power are amazing. That’s not enough tho, protect your chin brother!

I’m feeling sorry for Paddy, sort of…having said that, a little reality is necessary in life. Someone told him to early in his career that he was actually Connor McGregor. On your rise in life, bulling others, like Ariel is a mistake; especially when Dana encourages it. Focus on you and being a better man, my man…and rise again.

I like Paddy the Baddy but his rise to the UFC is nothing alike that of McGregor. The only opponent Connor didn't knock out during his rise before his first title shot was Max Holloway who's never been knocked down in his UFC career. And he still put an absolute clinic in that fight and won with a comfortable 30-27. Paddy the Baddy is a great dude, but other than his confidence and Cockyness (which let's be honest half of the UFC has) he's nothing like McGregor. Still an Amazing fighter though, and with a pretty promising career, it's a bit too early to declare his "Fall" yet
