MAX is owned by WB, so any documentary they make is going to be a fluff piece that downplays or ignores their mistakes and failures. Any documentary about the downfall of the DCEU is going to have to come from outside sources if you want any authenticity.

Honestly i think the escalation problem helped hurt it because it kept going up and up without thinking of the smaller conflicts that made some of the greatest MCU stories. Honestly i do like some of the shows, stories and more but it hurt when some of the shows kept getting worse and worse.

WB couldn’t decide on what they wanted and they turned down potential projects that could’ve made them a staple of comic book films like George Miller’s Justice League Mortal. Also getting and hiring the wrong people to do projects that didn’t make sense for the characters they were making movies about and hiring actors who didn’t fit their characters and ultimately ruined their run. Only getting short lived minimal successes like Aquaman and Wonder Woman and only achieving modest successes from then on and then bombed after bomb. It really didn’t help that people from Zack Snyder and David Ayer arrogantly thought they had a massive success and made fun of the competition only for that competition to kick their asses at the box office and Snyder making fun of the original source material and making fun fans of those source materials. The only success DC has had were movies that were not connected like The Batman and Joker never achieving the heights it was capable of and many hoped it could’ve reached.

Great video! You did your research and it shows well. I'd like to see WBD eventually make a documentary about the failed DCEU from start to finish with lot's of "never before seen" footage, production stills, & interviews.

as far as I remember , the ZSJL cut extra budget was 70 M $, and Zack took non of it, all was destined to effects and actors of the ending with and Bruce's Knightmare dream ending with Martian. About the BLACK and WHITE version: 40:29 (yeah your comment is incomplete) Black and white is how Zack Snyder watched the movie when he was at home going through the footage, before the Snyder cut got announced, and Is how he got used to see the movie.

Nice to see a DCEU retrospective that doesn't white wash Zack Snyder's negative influence and reception in favor of pinning all the blame on WB. Don't get me wrong, WB definitively did horribly mismanage the DCEU and made a lot of mistakes. But that just begs the question, why did WB start screwing with everything? The answer is that Zack Snyder failed to deliver a strong and stable foundation to build the rest of the DCEU and the ground fell underneath WB's feet, sending them into a creative death spiral with no sense of direction or vision that eventually killed the franchise. Had a different director created a much more positive and warmly recieved inital start to the DCEU, like George Miller, WB would have never slammed their heads into the panic button and send the franchise into an early grave.

I read the script for Miller's League - it was terrible. If Snyder's League and Ayer's Squad came out in their original form, everything would be fine. If you don't believe it, watch the video reactions of other bloggers.

Yes, compare the reception of a film that was never made to three films that were made and all were failed to perform to expectations or were negatively received. Yeah, that makes sense. Parallax being “a turd cloud” that ended up being killed/trapped by the sun may spell trouble for sequels in terms of Sinestro Corps lore but that was all I was “worried” about.

Man WB needs to stop ruining and messing with films they dont know how to work on them wanting to take out the no mans lands scene in wonder woman makes no sense because if they did remove it the movie would not get recieved that well and would not be good and would fail. Being fair to Snyder for a second he just wanted to make his small set of movies like Cristopher Reeves made his movies or Christopher Nolan did his, WB just made him do a full on cinematic universe. With that being said he made some dumb choices along the way which I think he realized so he planned for Flash to reboot the universe.

Think about this a movie that has Batman and Superman on screen for the first time together with Wonder Woman having a supporting cameo role, her feature film debut did not cross the billion-dollar mark. that movie should have been 1.5 to 2 billion dollars easily since those are the most iconic well-known superheroes in American history. But a movie about Aquaman who has been the butt of jokes for decades did cross the billion-dollar mark and after that movie every film after that did not make over 400 million dollars. The majority of films that are in that franchise either flopped harder than a fat person swan diving into a pool or underperformed.

I will answer that. The audience was burnt out. We wanted something fresh and new but WB ruined it. After BvS failed (I know it made 800mil that is still very low considering this movie was estimated to cross the billion dollar line easily) which was partially due to WB who cut the movie down and removed scenes so it was shorter, WB got scared so they ruined Suicide Squad to try to copy Deadpool and GOTG. WW was good but they still were scared so they gave us the abomination Justice League. Aquaman made 1 billion dollars because they made a movie that appealed to everyone while the Snyder films really only appeal to a small quadrant of movie lovers. WB either made bad movies on good characters or used characters no one was interested in from that point on. Now Ben Affleck has his experience ruined of superhero movies by Joss Whedon, Ezra is now a criminal and Ray is on bad terms with WB. James put the DCEU out of its misery. Maybe once it had potential but WB ruined it so now James Gunn is having a crack and hopefully his will be good.

Almost every character was poorly cast, and badly written. Affleck was easily the best of the bunch, and he didn't even get a solo movie, just got wasted in the abominable bvs.

I can't 👀 where the Heck HULK was a BOMB!! The Incredible Hulk WASN'T REALLY That Much Better!! It seems Folks trashed Hulk because it was made CGI directed by an oriental director the same way "Dark Phoenix " Witless Fans wants give credit to folks those characters are connected with.. How has The MCU handled the mutants since getting them back? Dark Phoenix been out 4,5 yrs & Namor, The Sub Mariner is the Best they can do since then 😒??
