Overall, being a state-owned airline isn't a problem as their are many good-doing State owner carriers like SQ and ME3(EK,EY,QR). Being a state-owned airline enjoys the benefit of governmental policy favoring(ME3 can buy lots of A380/777X on government money). But they could fall victim to Government malpractice like nepotism and ruin their performance(KE,CI before restructuring)

Malaysia Airlines is a pathetic story of mismanagement and poor service quality. If not for a flag carrier and bumiputera policy this airline would have been long gone. Honestly Nothing to celebrate.

Malaysia Airlines supposed to be a full service airline. Not too long ago passengers were asked to bring their own meals when they check in for their flights. How low class and pathetic this airline has become. Better to close shop and start a tuk tuk service in down town KL.

Malaysia Airlines are quite good these days. I flew them from London to Kuala Lumpur in 2023 and they were better than many big airlines.

Yea i had a really good experience with them lately flying to / from Tokyo and HK lately. Better than EVA & JAL.

Exactly. Better than the overrated SQ and Qatar. Not that they are bad but nothing to shout about. Their in-flight meals are just average or worse. Only certain routes are OK. MAS is wayyy better.

Malaysia Airlines went through annul horribilus a decade ago but now is regaining its position as one of the top airlines in the world. To say it is in decline in 2024 is not factual.

MAS should revive it's hangar for other airlines. Before massive retrenchment, MAS Engineering service was unrivalled, even SIA Engineering couldn't compete with their services & cost. It was the best MRO in south east Asia.

MH's best days might already be behind it. It has inadvertently (or not) fallen down a slippery slope that is too tough to climb up from, especially while competitors have soared so far ahead.

I hope one day Malaysian Airlines will get back to being the best but to do that need to get rid of the management. I would choose Singapore Airlines over Malaysian Airlines. The service is good. The cabin crew are very friendly and helpful.

They never were the best. That always went to Singapore, Pan Am, British Airways, Qantas, ANA, EVA and Air France. Malaysia never made the top 10

From my experience flying with Malaysian Airlines, their staff are excellent but their management are poor.

You are exactly correct, the shareholder should look back at the person who sits on the Board of Directors and the function and capability to drive the organization moving forward. The senior management also should revise the composition. Really strange that the company needs a lot of people with Finance, account and administration experience in the BOD and top management. Puzzle me how they communicate at the global level.

The fleet needs upgrading, the lounge needs upgrading, the staff need better training, the food needs major changing, particularly special meals. There should always be a vegetarian option as the norm. All the big players from the Middle East all offer this, and are cheaper than MAS. Much work is required to raise MAS to its former glory.

Very poor effort - no real in-depth analysis when there is so much information out there about political interference and hyper-inflated contracts awarded to politically-connected individuals/firms. No attempt to explain why the two non-Malaysian CEO’s quit but a clear inference that they were simply ‘not the right people appointed’ even though they both had strong senior backgrounds in commercial aviation management. How about the ridiculous decision to purchase 6 A380’s - fabulous aircraft to fly on but clearly no business case as shown soon afterwards as they were among the world’s first to be parked up, under-utilised and yet another Malaysian-government vanity project to try to keep up with Singapore Airlines. The absolutely appalling handling of the MH370 loss by the Malaysian government not only made them look stupid but dragged the airline down further. The short version - DO YOUR RESEARCH!

Flew with them a couple of times the past 6 months to / from Tokyo & HK. Way better than JAL and EVA. They got some ways to go still for the domestic routes tho. Old aircrafts.

And nothing about MH17? Malaysian lost a lot of business and consumer trust after it lost MH370 and MH 17. Among other things, it stopped flying to lucrative Amsterdam. After the MH 17 disaster, only KLM now flies 10 times a week with a B777 between Amsterdam and KUL. Although MAS is not an alliance partner, it does sell tickets on this route, but it is operated by KLM.

MAS continued flying to AMS for a while and it was cancelled during the rebrand and reform where a lot of routes were cancelled. MH17 and 370 were not the fault of the airline so they shouldn’t be blamed, just a bad coincidence that both crashes were from the same airline

Wish and hopefully this time Malaysia airlines will rise and be among the top 3 airlines company in the world in all divisions whether in passengers and freights..and will make profit on their own without depending on gov or Khazanah National, instead they will provide fund and great financial flow towards gov and khazanah to develop Malaysia well..wish and hope again there won’t be any gov official that prioritises corruption nor bribery.

But after MH370, I can never be sure to really trust it. AirAsia sadly is not exception due to a greedy CEO that decided to let go of his own staff during pandemic, and a refund system that doesn't always work if you decide cancel.

MH370 was not their fault and if you want to use the logic of ‘this airline had a crash so I don’t trust them’ then you won’t go anywhere because most airlines have had crashes. It’s only because MH370 was largely publicised that you think it’s worse but the fact is MH17 and 370 were not the fault of Malaysia airlines and it was just a horrible coincidence that they were both from the same airline

MH did not really have any real and sustainable revival. Idris Jala whom some hailed as a corporate genius was roundly condemned by MH long timers as having put in indiscriminate cost cuttings just to satisfy his agenda. What is needed in MH - some real revamps that lead to an efficient operational model. Cutting “unprofitable” routes is not the end to it. You cut the top line as well as bottom line.

Can't even provide decent food, even on Business Class. Problem with MAB is that there are too many rent seekers hence the only 2 foreign CEOs resign in a short time as the company is rotten to the core. I say make it bankrupt and stop wasting taxpayers money propping up a dead carcass of a company

@@akifiskandar4186 Let's just accept the fact that MH 'glory days' are over and will not return. The gap between MH and other top airlines (SQ, JL, QR, EK, CX etc) is just too big to close. MAG does not have the money nor the expertise to make it happen. With the growing reach of low cost carriers in the region and the increasingly progressive advances of regional full service airlines leaving MH in their dust, MAG has its work cut out to make MH a viable, relevant and sustainable business WITHOUT further bailouts and being a national burden.

@@akifiskandar4186Not confident for MH to be even at the level of TK or EY - both punch above their weight especially in twin isle business class. MH is no match. Even GA is no slouch (they have better inflight catering for sure). Perhaps more KLM, Iberia, Hong Kong Airlines, Aero Mexico lah.

@DodoJames-cm4io 0 seconds ago we flow with them once they were late taking off so we missed our connection flight we spent 12 hours of hell at their airport sending us from one counter to another. in our return we found out at the airport our flights were cancelled all together after 16 hours they gave us flights they refused us meals or hotel worse airline ever

Disagree. MAB under the current management has managed to turn around MAB back into profitability for the first time in years. If not, they will be bankrupt again or sold off as what they were back in 2019.
