Ninjaman has gone down as one of the greatest and unbeatable dancehall DJs of all time. He not only took all his opponents to the cleaners at sound clashes but also became the face of the dancehall "badman" or gangster. This video traces his rise from rural Annotto Bay to the world's biggest stages and his eventual fall

I'm an American born Jamaican who got sent back in the late 80s cause.."dem seh mi did bad". I want to say that I got to see Ninja in his prime, when he murdered Cat an Shabba. But Ninja was just getting started. This man should be teaching a class on breath control, stage presence rhythm riding and the like to both rappers and chatters. He is the Michael Jordan of the microphone game. Much respect to Merciless, u can tell he truly studied Ninja an figured out how to beat him with good strategy, like how Max Schmelling beat Joe Louis. Nuff respect Gorgon, front teet gold teet AND SIDE TEET!

My deejay that no one has a stage presence like him right from the moment he steps on walking slowly 😂 his clash with Flourgun was also with Redragon so it was two brothers against Ninjaman but they already feared him because I had Flourgun saying they wants hid in the toilet when he just turned up at their sound wanting to clash them 😂 ,another of his clash was with Mad Cobra in 1995 that was really good that’s the first time I saw him getting defeated before the Merciless 2000.

You can't be a fan of dancehall and not understand his success. That's like saying you like money but don't know why people use the dollar bill. You don't have to like to understand. The man killed all oncomers, was impactful and influential on many artists. And you don't get his success???
@user-fd7ju5sb6b

His style contributed to it, but it’s not just him. It’s the same with Drill, and Trap [c]rap. As a people we used to produce uplifting, loving music. The fork tongued beast realised this and funded, and encouraged the vileness we have now. From NWA - started the corruption of hip hop; to that agent if the us…Grange..who’s handlers assisted her in the promotion of dUncehall. All deliberate and we fell for it, hook line etc.

And what do you listen to??? I hear you and will not say you're completely wrong. But not everything is a conspiracy. At least they don't start out that way. If there is money in it they will exploit it, and if it happens to be degrading bonus. For your info it was the labels that forced the underground movement. At the time of nwa, or leading up to it, major labels only signed clean artists ie Fresh Prince. It wasn't until they saw the money...but I agree the slackness is killing us.

I can only assume that reggae danchall needed a bad man, someone to love and hate all at tne same time. Just like in tne movies. Without Ninja Man dancehall no good again. The field is full of some yapping puppy dogs, none of which have the character, stage presence or talent of the generation before them. Reggae Dancehall, as we grew up knowing it, is over.

Its me again, With all due respect but i gotta be honest here. Ninja and a host of other Deejays who followed his lead in terms of Gun Lyrics, played a role in popularizing violence and guns in their music through Dancehall. This has had a negative affect in Jamaican society up until today. Where you have some young artists who produce music that is negative and counterproductive. I can go on and on, but in a sense Ninja Man, contributed to the ruination of Dancehall to an extent.
