Adult swim and toonami is how i started watching anime

Yup. Have to give Adultswim its credit. It helped introduced a lot of fans to more mature anime characters and stories, long before we had the option of streaming services. As great as a lot of our introductory anime on Toonami was, American networks still aimed them at younger audiences

I remember toonami and aldo ytv had an anime block on Fridays and i think Saturdays. it was 11pm to 2am. i remember dbz and.sailor moon during the day, but that night hours was Gundam Wing, Escaflowne, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and a few others that would change

I also want to thank Adult Swim for their part in making English dubbing so much better than it was back in the mid to late 90’s. It’s like the distributors respected the work and wanted the dubs to do the source material justice!

Adult swim is like the younger twin brother. Toonami was born a couple minutes earlier but they’re both loved equally...toonami just kicked it off

I remember when I first got into anime most people kept quiet about their interest in it but nowadays people talk about it openly and advertisements for it are more common than they used to be. I’m happy to be living in the age of technology where we can access anime soon after it airs and don’t have to buy the Blu-ray disks to watch episodes.

For me, growing up and going to school in the early 2000’s, there were two types of anime fans, the “nerds” who usually get picked on, and the more rougher, “ghetto minorities” group, who will fight back against bullies! I hanged out with both groups at school and often talk about anime with them! Good times!

There was the later half of Tokyo Mew Mew (Mew Mew Power), a whole nother season of Ojamajo Doremi (Magical DoReMj), season 4 of YGO GX and 5Ds. They had the rights to Futari wa Precure (which is successful franchise in Japan now to the likes of Toei's other original IPs like Kamen Rider and Sentai) but Magical DoReMi didn't do so hot and all they wanted from that deal was One Piece
