Now that Scarlet and Violet introduced time travel, Froslass was able to go back in time, to the Gen 3 era. Since it was not able to stay, as it did not exist back then, it decided to teach its cousin Glalie some tricks in the time it had, to increase its viability in OU, and help with its low self esteem. Froslass’ efforts were apparently successful. I only hope Iron Mugulis/Iron Fellow don’t have any ill intents and are not waiting on the exact spot for Froslass’ arrival, only to kidnap it. That would truly be sad.

Fun fact: Upon evolving, Ash's Glalie didn't lose a single match in the anime, in the worst case scenario he still tied against his toughest opponents. Glalie should be a top consideration for one of Ash's strongest Pokemon, and I feel like some of that energy rubbed off on Gen 3 OU.

Honestly, the one thing I would change about gen 3 is implementing the physical/special split. It's one of those things that's just straight-up an improvement from before, and the fact that literally just allowing pokemon to use moves of a type they want from their better offensive stat is the only thing I'd change about gen 3 says a lot about it.
@d4ws125
@d4ws125 Жыл бұрын
@@romanscum5678 Jim addressed in a prior video how the absence of the split in Gen 3 can be positive as it allows a very unique meta compared to those after it. I tend to agree but it would be interesting to see gen 3 with the split

@romanscum5678 Жыл бұрын
@@d4ws125 I kinda get where you're coming from, but the best reason to not have it in gen 3 imo is that it's not in the games, so it shouldn't be anywhere. But honestly, the split is just one of those things that while I think it shouldn't be implemented, I would like it to be, just cause it's one of those things that was just fixing a hardware limitation. Although I could just play DPPt for something close enough.

I always thought it was because of Moody and that it was his signature ability until hidden abilities became a thing but... No, Moody was introduced in Gen V. This guy is literally an angry hail stone with horns wearing an ice hockey mask. If you tossed it lightly at a pokemon, you'd expect it to shatter on impact but keep biting with whatever piece was left of its mouth like a 70s slasher film. Yet the stats are perfectly balanced.

Hoenn Gaiden's spike situation is interesting, quilfish gets access to thunder wave which it doesnt have until gen 4 normally, meaning anything you don't want to self destruct on you can cripple. Delibird gets spikes and is a good mixed attacker in its own right, and even crazier, heracross gets access to spikes which could be a nasty surprise. Golisopod, chesnaught, deoxys speed, and froslass are also there, and I dont know what they do but they're probably scary. It seems these bad matchups still mostly apply, however, which I think is really cool of the Hoenn Gaiden team to keep that aspect.

You can tell they tried to design mons around the physical special type system, like how Crawdaunt has a weirdly high SpAt for a physical attacker (compare it to Kingler for example) or Blaziken having both attacking stats be high so it can use both STABs. Many of them ended up being neither fast nor bulky as a result though.

It wasn’t out but in 2022 vgc I found pretty fun niche use for lopunny as a support mon. Using lopunny to fake out and switcheroo like a normal support mon just with a high speed stat. Seems pretty bad in gen 8 when most support Mons need prankster to succeed. The key was healing wish. If you want more details let me know. @@thewisthersgames It was a team that used choice specs palkia to mess with sun and kyogre and zacian for general heavy offense that covered palkia's weaknesses well. Incineroar was the most consistent performer. If you don't know it's goal is to intimidate and pivot out with parting shot to completely nerf the foe's attacking prowess. It's just bulky enough to almost never die without me being able to pivot out. By pivoting out lopunny for a free switch I can then send in a fake out. Then from there, Lopunny can switcheroo or healing wish. Eventually, lopunny will healing wish. In case you don't know, The move fully heals the next mon you switch but faints the user. Obviously, there's a lot of benefit to getting incineroar the most consistent pokemon in the format back to full health and status cure. Better yet it could also be used on damaged palkia or zacian if the situation doesn't allow incineroar to come in. Lopunny is the fastest available healing wish user and its access to fake out and switcheroo klutz is incredible. Its fast enough to outspeed most restricted mons and this really helps it healing wish at the perfect time and use fast switcheroos to disrupt. The most interesting part though is pairing healing wish with ally switch. I won't go in detail on that part. Here's a great video that breaks down pairing ally switch and healing wish. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y5qUlbCjqrm5o5s.html&pp=ygUYaGVhbGluZyB3aXNoIHBva2Vtb24gdmdj

Favorite Niche OU Pokemon? Porygon RBY It is almost a Counter to Lax because It can PP Stall Lax out only on certain sets. If Lax goes boom on your Porygon, You won because you have the Opponent’s Lax out of the game. Also It uses tackle in the sets. So it’s extremely Funny.

I always liked Glalie due to it's creepy design. I always wished it was more viable.

I always thought it was weird how everyone said Glalie had garbage stats, I get base 80 isn't that impressive by gen 9 standards but back in gen 3 I thought it was at least decent enough to be usable.
