At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

6:18 Hurrem giving Ibrahim the death glare…she’s willing the balcony to collapse under him 😂 Meryem’s facial expressions in this show absolutely end me. I’m not sure if this show is serious drama but good lord does it have comedic moments.

This was Hürrem's enemies mistake! Every time they found something to get rid of her, they always told to her and warned her! Ibrahim made the same mistake again, here! Instead of acting secretly, he warned Hürrem and he lost the game so bad!!

She knew whatever Ibrahim's reaction turns out to be it would come back to bite him...either it would look like he disrespects holy Quran if he rejects the present or he would look like he's taking bribery if he accepts it since it's all embellished with gold and jewels...

@@treasureikpea The girl that jumped from the balcony could have easily all spilled the beans that everything she did was for Hürrem. All it would have taken was Rustem not find her mother, being too late, or the girl not getting the hint. Thus, plot armor.

It's not that she's innocent. She's not innocent. It's about acknowledging that she's not just a cartoon villain stereotype. She's the most complex character in the show.

@@SmartHd-hw3ty Ibrahim is evil. Hürrem, Mahidevran and Hatice are all morally grey (even Hatice has killed someone may I remind you) and Mustafa is a good person but he's also fundamentally a Gary Stu.
