The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

When Hurrem is talking to ibrahim, you can see in his eyes that, for the first time, this is the one person who understands him. He too lost his family, and lives at the whims of the Sultan. Yet, unlike Hurrem, Ibrahim's fall came from his own huberus and turning into what/who he hated most.

I agree with you that his hubris was his downfall but I have to disagree with you on the assumption that he is capable of empathy.

Nonsense! Ibrahim wouldn't help her, and he knew she was innocent all along! He was overjoyed in seeing Hurrem suffer and wanted to see her suffer more, there was no compassion in Ibrahim at all-if anything his confrontation and so-called false compassionate offer to help her was all a bunch of BS!!!!. Then when it was convenient, telling her that if she bows down and kisses all of the dynasty's feet (and backside's begging forgiveness)-especially to her arch nemesis Mahidervan, she could come back. Hurrem's classy answer to Ibrahim's offer a big fat "NO!!!!" she stated that she would rather die first and never see Suleiman and Mehmet again then beg Mahidervan's forgiveness!! In other word telling Ibrahim that he can take his offer and so can Mahidervan and stuff it up their noses!!!!

Please! Ibrahim was so full of everything that he didn't think he stunk, but he did. and he was rotten to the core!! I said that she showed "FALSE COMPASSION" toward Hurrem trying to get her in a trap to humiliate her more in front of the entire dynasty including Suleiman to make her look bad even more. What Ibrahim did was even more cruel and sadistic than Mahidervan's antics. But in the end, he and Mahidervan had their backsides kicked by Hurrem.

as Hurrem use to always tell herself in a stressful situation, " stay calm, and do not argue," but she did not step back when aggressively confronted either. I must disagree with this. She did have some power when Mehmet was born. She became a sultana. But her actual power came after she was freed and married after the death of Valide . As I said before.

I would say good for Hurrem for not bowing down and kissing Ibrahim's and Mahidervan's backside! You can see how all of them Valide, Daye (Evil old hags) Sadika (the murdering witch!!) Ibrahim and Mahidervan (was neither sultana nor ever a Haseki-only Hurrem held that title first because it was created for her alone.) all just bask in the suffering of Hurrem. Sultana! Even Nigar and Sumbul even didn't believe and would not help her. They better watch themselves now, because they have made a true enemy of Hurrem!! They should fear her because look out when it comes back to all of them it will give them all a great big whack in the backsides!! And payback is a BIOTCH!! But then on the downside, saying no will keep her away from Suleiman and her son. If it continued this way, Hurrem might have never returned to Topaki Palace, and her enemies might have won. But nah, not with Hurrem, you can't keep a good biotch down for very long try as they did and miserably failed at it in the end!! We know their fates-Valide takes a stroke and dies, Daye hangs herself, Nigar jumps off a 4000 ft. cliff to her death, Mahidervan is exiled from Suleiman to live in misery for the majority of her life until Sultan Selim restores her, her servant mouse -face gets stabbed, Sumbul becomes a loyal servant to Hurrem and the best for last Ibrahim finally falls on his own sword. His outright arrogance and self-importance get him strangled, after he makes a throne for himself, even declares himself Sultan to a foreign ambassador, makes a bust of himself that makes him looks like Sultan. He went too far with his constant arguments and always being right, not listening to the other pashas and making mistakes in the government brought his death. This was not made up! Ibrahim was strangled in the Ottoman history books because of his profound arrogance) His wife, Hatice, committed suicide after kidnapping Hurrem and not telling Suleiman. she knew that her brother would never forgive her. Even Shah, Fatima and the other sisters could not stand up to Hurrem in the end!!

Aishe Hatun (the girl Hurem shared room with for a while). Aishe was disrespectful towards Hurem and she threatened Aishe in front of whole harem. So they think she killed her, but she is innocent
