The hatred among ultras groups in Italy comes from the time of city states, when Italy unified different places that have hated each others for centuries found themselves in the same country, right at the time when football was becoming popular, so the tensions that once led to wars transferred in the football stadiums. This whole thing is called campanilismo(bell tower-ism) and if it didn’t disappear in the last 100 years, it’s not going to disappear any time soon

Littered with mistruths as usual. Violence in football has never gone away, it’s nothing like it was in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Football matches are violence free for the majority. There are just as many left wing Ultras groups as there are right wing groups, why does that never get mentioned? Actually knives are not "permitted" in the ultras mentality. Neverthless some ultras firm often use it (roma, lazio, napoli, inter, milan, juve). Unfortunately this is an "unwritten code", so it's easily misrepresented sometimes.
