Way too high prices. The market value for liquidation is 10-15% of retail.

that's why i spend less than $40 on driving 8 hours, total, to IN, from IL, rather than spend $200+ on shipping. i make money. takes hard work, and time, and not everyone wants to do it. everyone thinks it's just supposed to be an easy flip. you learn as you go, and learn from others, online, and in the end, it's supplemental for some, and others go all out and in time have warehouses full of used product. just wanted to chime in on...no one is forcing anyone to ship. even w high gas prices...i spent $40, tops in my SUV for 8-hour drive.

Right, I would NEVER buy at 50% and you will get some returns If I and spending almost $900 I would like to get about $3000 because they don't look like fast moving items maybe a bit less if they are fast moving, you still have to pay taxes and your employees to handle them.

Hey Pete, you live in Chicago, there are literally 7 different liquidation pallet companies you can buy from that are located in the Indianapolis area. I've done about 5 pallets for liquidation. For me,Too much headache with some of those returns, too much testing, too much stress, customer complaints, negative feedback. The best I've done with returns are shoes because its mostly returned because it didnt fit, not because its defective. It takes a certain type of reseller to deal with liquidation and piece them out. You have to deal with a lot of crap.

A lot of that stuff looks like returns. I worked in a big chain retail store shipping department, You can usually tell if it's a return because one pallet has many different items. Not a fan of paying that much for this type of inventory. My rule of thumb is 13% of retail perhaps going to 17% at best. Pete is absolutely right on buying inventory to cover the cost of a trip. Many, many years ago long before the Antiques Roadshow there was a New Hampshire Antique dealer that had a show on TV. George Michael of Merrimack, NH favorite saying was “learn to pay for the gas money”.

I have been reselling along time and i have tried the whole pallet thing before but i never liked it and it didn't make as much as i wanted. After being so damn blessed with yard sales and estate sale kinds of profit i find myself not being able to make enough money with this type of buying/reselling. Some people can make it work and some people can make money but its not for me. Now for someone who doesn't have the amount of knowledge as i do this is a good way to make money, but for me i am all about the treasure hunt. The whole reason i have been a reseller for 15+ yrs is because i love every min of it. When i got into the pallet game i found myself working my ass off and handling the same items each and everyday and it had me burned out. Everyone has their own niche or whatever and if you like doing pallets i believe you can make some money in this game but for the most part i would much rather spend my money else where and make a much larger profit margin. Thanks for the video Pete

The problem with going through a middle man like this is you are paying their markup so they make money to run their business as well. Your best bet is to try and buy directly from the retailer, which is hard for one person as they want someone who they can offload pallet after pallet onto. One person isn't normally going to have the storage capacity for it.

I have a place near me that will sort all of the pallets they receive. They will repack the trash and sell the good stuff online or in store. The trash is only marked down 30%. The stuff they pull they sell for 10% discount. The don't tell the customers that the pallets have been sorted through. It is a really sad business practice. Buying liquidation pallets are ultra risky. Always do your research on the company you are buying from. Thank you for the video. Hope all is well during these times. God bless you. :)

Why buy these pallets of basically unsaleable products when you can purchase the same items new from the manufacturer at the same cost, 50% off retail. Also, pallet shipping isn't cheap. Go see Resale Rabbit's KZfaq videos about selling pallets of Amazon and big box store merchandise. He buys at about $0.10 on the retail dollar, and in turn sells at half retail price. Does very well on Ebay, etc.

An item may have a "retail price" of $100, but that means the store probably has only $30-$40 in it. Retail prices are normally set fairly high to allow for markdowns and shrinkage (theft) losses. Nobody pays "retail" anymore, so the term has become fairly meaningless.

Profits is around $300k a year after they pay their workers. Not bad, I see their lifestyle and how much free time they have on their hand and it is pretty amazing.

I sell plastics for a living. So, I've dealt with many manufacturers. Many of these retailers get credited for returns/slightly damaged boxes etc. The last thing a manufacturer wants is it's own items back. Years ago, I was selling materials into the Dirt Devil "Royal Appliance" company. Back then, they were bringing in returns and tearing them down to reprocess the plastics. That has become a money drain in itself. That company today owned by TTI which is Chinese. So is the Hoover Company.

Those sams clubs palettes are their retail prices which are less than regular stores. I’d hop on those palettes personally myself, for the smaller house wear items.

When you travel that far you have to calculate what you spent on gas and accommodation which will obviously affect your profit margin.

If you’re offering $2500 for a FTL from NC to Chicago, I’ll take that any day. True TL pricing is more like $1200-$1500 10 months out of the year on that lane.

I think Sam's club could be the way to go for your business... It a good start to try out what you got. Means you went by it wasn't a bad idea to stop. I would have done the same. As far as your trip I think it awesome to see the mountains in WV. I been to WV I kinda remember it.. Long time ago Pete. 1992.

In order to make a profit on anything....you need to buy it at 20% of the actual cost of the item. I live in California, and people have crashed and burned on these pallets. No one is going to tell you, but these warehouses DO separate the good stuff, the good stuff do go to specific customers.

Hells NO!!!!!! This is exactly why I stay FAR FAR FAR AWAY from places like this!!!! Way too much work, not worth the return! This is like playing against the "house" in a casino. They make all the money off of you and leave you with the scraps! I would LOVE to run a place like this and make money off all the people who don't know how to run a business. I'm actually shocked to see Pete in a place like this..... this is for suckers!
