Wow, that's like how Precious Jesus Christ is!

Wow! Your post was the means of an aha moment for me, as God connected some dots for me in a huge way. The crossing of the Jordan into the Promised Land has come to mean a great deal to me as a type for the victorious Christian life, but somehow I had never connected that with the significance of Jesus being baptized in the Jordan River! Duh! That’s probably one reason John was baptizing there-not just because “there was much water there.” And then to connect Jesus’ baptism to our baptism being a sign of Surrender to Him by identifying with Him in His death by crucifixion, burial, and being raised with Him to walk in newness of life, makes “the river” very meaningful indeed. And to think that by the Spirit a river of the water of life flows out from our innermost being, just like the it flows from the throne of God in Heaven, well-it almost takes one’s breath away. It makes me wonder if the place where John was baptizing was the very place where Israel passed over into the Promised Land? Wouldn’t that almost too amazing! But wouldn’t that be just like God! It’s interesting, too, that Israel crossed over/through two rivers: the Red Sea in leaving the bondage of Egypt (new birth) and then the Jordan River (crucifixion of the flesh; living the victorious Christian life) as a deeper Surrender. The children of Israel could have gone over to the Promised Land eleven days rather than 40 years later if they had had the faith to trust God and not listened to the nay-sayers who were afraid of the giants in the land. So many lessons to learn from God’s Word!

@@VickyRBenson The song is probably referring to the river of life that flows from the throne of God in the new heaven/new earth! Revelation 22.

@@LillybethMakeup I was thinking of it, too, and also there was a river flowing from the millennial throne in Ezekiel 47 which brought life wherever it flowed. Also Psalm 46 says, “There is a river..” and Greater Vision sings it. I heard them sing it once and it became very meaningful to me and filled me with joy one dark night, as I was going in to the hospital to visit my husband who was in a coma. It had been raining, and now the road into the parking lot was a rushing river. For some reason God was so powerfully close that I just started singing it, as much as I knew, and it was exhilarating. I was walking with God as a comforting Friend and that River was special. I knew Jay would be going home, but I knew my awesome God was with me in a mighty way and would be with me all the way. There is still a joy of tears to remember that special time and realize that no matter what, we have a constant, faithful Friend in Jesus. ❤️😊🙏🎶
