The road to 500k miles on the 09 Lexus GS350

The goal with this car is to one day reach 1 million miles on the odometer. Before that we need to reach 500k miles first. We are currently at 175k with that, maintenance and preventive maintenance will be key to achieve this goal.

500k miles on a Lexus? No problem as long as you keep up on the fluid changes!

Great to hear that’s the strategy. Need to start taking longer trips with it. It only gets driven about 200 miles a week or less.

Any car can get to 500k as long as you replace what it needs , my brother in laws 2002 Ram truck has almost 400k miles on it

I got my 2008 GS 350 to 195,000 miles but I'm having to leave this for my son. I hope the 2017 I just got treats me as good. Just love driving the GS, sad they stopped production.

Nice 195k is pretty good I am currently at 183k and drives like new. Pretty sad as well they stopped making the GS. Enjoy the 2017!

Man I don't how ppl can drive to 500k miles , I bought my truck brand new in 2015 nine years later I'm on 71,000 miles ! Lol even before that I had a new Cadillac for 10 years when I sold it the odometer had 78k miles on it .. unless you drive for a living like a delivery guy I can't imagine ever driving 500k on a car let alone 1million !

For me this is more of a fun project. I have no intentions of ever selling this car. Now to reach 500k it might take me years if not a decade or two but it’s a project I took to see how far I can push it. One guy in Florida has over 800k miles on his GS. I have soft spot for late 90’s early JDM cars.

@@iceberg26 true true driving to work for me is a total of 44 miles both ways but due to traffic I take the subway to work. BUT not in a real rush to rack up the miles might take a decade to reach 500k 😀.

Yes so almost 80% of my stuff I just go to Amazon. I got there under the name ( Amiss car center console pad) but they also have a variety of other kinds including some that will match your interior color.

How often should you change transmission fluid? Every 2 years or 30k miles?

Great question personally I do it every 50k miles. When it comes to years that depends on how many miles you are putting on your car. It can be 2 yrs and maybe only put up 10k miles. Personally I go based on mileage.

It did in the beginning. Changed PCV valve got better then replaced all 6 spark plugs and 3 coils that were bad. Burning oil issue went away. I will suggest though instead of waiting 5k intervals to change your oil despite being synthetic I suggest 3k intervals or at least 4 if you push it.

I hope you’re not relying on the maintenance reminder. You’ll never make it to 500k, let alone a million. Change the oil every 5,000 miles.

No sir I know a thing or two about cars. I used to work on them 16 years ago. My oil change is every 3k synthetic. There is plenty of people that have made it to 500k with the GS platform, I just want to be part of it.
