Born in Boston in 1960 we grew up being taught the sacrifice and about the brave men who are responsible for our freedoms, from the 1st grade at school we would all stand with our hand over our heart reciting the pledge of allegiance, staring at the huge flag in every school room, it's the reason I'm free and able to live free of persecution and follow my dreams, I think people forget what those men accomplished back then, we must never forget why we're free human beings.🙏🇺🇸

At 4:22 that map of yorktown was made by my 5th great grandpa

I visited Yorktown about twenty years ago and stood at redouts 9 and 10 and their was no one else around, it was erie. You could almost hear the sounds of battle. They had redout 10 fenced off because it is close to the river embankment and erosion has taken part of it.

My 5th Great Grandfather was there for the battle and surrender. He was in the Virginia militia. I am having a hard time getting information on their actions during the battle.

It's a pity that today many Américains only talk about the WW2 when it comes to France, but do not know the history of the independance of their own country. Otherwise, they would perhaps be a little less aggressive as soon as it commes to criticizing France...

The guy stumbles too much in his delivery. I wish he'd calm down a bit and deliver it without all the hesitance and stumbling. It would also be far preferable if the map was animated to indicate the actions being described with more time viewing the animated map and less time viewing the static instructor.. "to my left to my right to the camera's left to the camera's right" just doesn't cut it.

Yorktown was made possible by Spain! Why is that never ever mentioned? It wasn't just France and Lafayette! Spain paid and funded the Yorktown campaign paying both the French and Continental soldiers who hadn't been paid for several months and years causing several mutinees and also paid and refurbished Degrasse's French fleet allowing Degrasse to travel to both the Chesapeake and later Yorktown which Spain also had a huge role in the military planning which is why the Spanish Ambassador was invited last year to the Yorktown victory celebration in October of 2023! Spain protected French possessions in the Caribbean allowing Degrasse to travel freely to his destination! Spanish General Bernardo de Gálvez was kind and generous enough to release his own French troops under Spanish command and ALLOWED Degrasse to take them to go reinforce Rochambeau at Yorktown! Without Spanish involvement Yorktown simply would not have happened! Not without Spain guys! Not without Spain! 🇪🇸

How in God's name can you start this story at Guilford Courthouse - the main Turning Point was Kings Mountain where storytelling such as this should begin, then to Cowpens and ONLY then to Guilford Courthouse where, because of the devastating British losses at Kings Mountain and Cowpens, Cornwallis is fleeing north to reunite with Sir Henry Clinton. Also, your telling of Washington's New York strategy is incomplete. Washington's Generals told him his NY strategy was ill-advised where Washington caved to his advisers to close the deal at Yorktown with the aid of the French. Washington was a great Statesman, but as a military tactician, he was sorely lacking but modern day historians insist on lionizing Washington. If not for Kings Mountain, Cornwallis would have secured the planned southern flanking position and, with Clinton's large body of men to the north, Clinton knew Washington would not have commanded his men to certain slaughter. The French warships would not have arrived in time and we would all be sipping British tea and paying British taxes unto this day - HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR KINGS MOUNTAIN...period, hard stop.
