Well this one is a few days late. Tried four times to do the upload and it didn't work so I had to compress the file more. Hope it works this time. There will be a difference in quality but at least you'll get to see if I win the battle with the rock.

Thanks Paul and Kathy, you folks are rock stars of home video in my opinion. I always am delighted when you have a new video. I picked up our new BX25D1 a couple of weeks ago and am still waiting for some of the accessories to arrive, we will be putting our BX22, first year unit and 25th off of the line, up for sale soon. These have been excellent machines. Thanks again for sharing your work, your fun and your wonderful family with all of us!

You are a lucky man, all those toys to play with. You know what they say, "he who dies with the most toys wins". I used to need my wife's permission to buy toys then she ran away with my best friend. I really miss him. Best wishes from The Land Downunder.

Paul, I watched this video pretty late but I still liked it. And yes the air down here is very warm we've been getting 80 and 90 degree weather here in Bon Jovi Land! But it sucks, you want to open the windows in the truck but the air is so hot it just isn't worth it.But hey it's better to tow cars in the cold rather than the heat, at least your chains don't freeze to your hands. I'll watch the new video later, Another busy day ahead of me, grass to cut and cars to tow.

To be honest I gained a lot of respect for the BX after watching this. Pound for pound the little tractor is probably on par with the 5740! You were lifting out pieces of rock that probably weighed a couple hundred pounds easily. It's a true mighty mouse for sure! I think you just stumbled onto the reason Atlantis sank...somebody there bought a BX and a bucket of Ecobust, split the bedrock, scooped it out with the BX and the whole island sunk!! lol

Truck Shackley That little BX is about the coolest little thing I've ever owned. We were only supposed to keep it for one year to gain access to our back property but then I got interested in it. Developed a multitude of accessories for it and decided to keep it. I think of it as a Swiss Army Knife. I have over 20.000 operating on heavy equipment. Some of the machines I've been on we're worth over a million dollars but the small BX is the machine I enjoy the most.

I just tried this stuff at my buddies cottage up in the kawartha lakes in Ontario, drilled the holes in the rock, cleaned them out with a long tube hooked to an air compressor then out this stuff in, checked it this morning before we left (like 16-18 hours after we did it) and didn't see much happening hopefully when we go back it'll be ready. The lake were on is all stone, even the trees have no dirt but still grow in the stone lol

How fast it works is dependent on the outside temperature. You could wait 20 hours then all of a sudden it cracks in a dozen places. I would put a tarp over it and get it warmer. That will help.

@jjr897

Hay Paul love your vids, A little advice with running your backhoe, don't jack your machine up with the stabilizers, instead run stabilizers down enough to support machine lock your four-wheel-drive in, set parking brake fully, that will keep you from dragging the machine when you're pulling on heavy objects, I realize the smaller machines with back hoe don't really have enough weight to keep the machine from dragging to what you're pulling on, but this will keep a lot of stress off your stabilizers

Paul I loved your video & you stuck to your guns & beat that rock! Hooray! Beside the hydraulic jack-hammer mod I suggested, there was another way (a old 1800's way) of cracking that rock. The method was to build a very hot fire on top of it, & then when the coals were cold, you would douse it with lots of cold water. From a safe distance of course. This would pulverize the rock into almost powder. Paul, whatever you do, please keep posting your videos on KZfaq, no matter what happens, because they keep changing their software, & it keeps having problems, they will finally realize what they did wrong & get it fixed. Hey! I could go for a shout-out too! You're far away friend, Kurt

Hey Kurt. Great idea on the rock splitting but I think I'll pass on it. My luck it would take out half the town when it split lol. Don't worry. I'll keep posting vids. This week the shop picked up to a crazy pace and on top of the I caught a bad cold. The property is starting to look very nice at this point and the final grading is done. Just waiting on some more material to be delivered from another company but things are moving fast on this project now. I have to do two more parts to this series and it will be completed. Stay tuned. Should have another video up by weekend. Thanks for your encouragement my friend.

Hi Paul and Kathy, big fan and just recently purchased your Sure-Footers for my BX 25. I’m also trying to breakdown a very large granite rock. I don’t have a large drill so wanted to ask what type of drill should I rent? Did you use a hammer drill? Thanks

David I’m sorry for the slow response. We get hundreds of questions every week so it’s hard getting to them. You can rent a Hilti hammer drill. They are good. So are the Bosch drills with a 1” drill bit. That will get it done. Hope you like your Sure Footers. Thanks.

These drills are very good on solid rock, but when drilling into a stone house wall, (which are normally filled with loose rubble), the loose infill drops down behind the larger end of the drill, preventing it coming back out, with my 1 Mt drill I have to go right through and out the other side to get my drill back!

Paul. How do you feel about the BX25d as a decent home owner machine, with an acre lot in NY? Might have some mild trenching work to do with it. As a man that can have anything and makes anything he needs, I think you're the best resource for an honest opinion. I've been stewing on a Kubota B2920 or JD 2032R also.
@7863348
@7863348 9 жыл бұрын
Nick Herron Thanks Nick. I don't know anything about the JD. we don't have any dealers here on the island but I realize your not asking me about that one. As for the Kubota BX25D. Well we bought it just to open up our back property and only intended to keep it for one year but fell in love with the thing. It's a great machine and perfect for one acre. the larger B modle is nice too but maybe a little over kill for your needs but I do like to buy larger than I need but in my case I already had the Kubota Grand L 5740. Unless the JD is something out of this world you can't and won't go wrong with a Kubota BX25D. Hope this helps.

+Robvanvie3 Hill Ive only used the stuff on the rock you seen in the video. You can go as deep with the solution as much as you want as long as you have a long drill bit, powerful drill and good strength in your arms. temperature is an issue this time of the year as well. Go to their site and research it. www.ecobust.com

Paul Short I can imagine that "spare" time is not something you have too much of around there by the looks of your shop, it looks there is just about nothing that you won't tackle. I've got a lot of good friends from the rock, better people you will not find anywhere. I went to check your website and in the text you mention a link in the top right corner for Kubota stuff....I don't see that link on my Mac, just wondering if I'm missing something there. I was going back and forth between the JD 1025R and the BX25 but after watching your videos I think I have my choice. Keep those videos coming, really waiting for one that shows all 48 mods.

CDNinKS Thanks. Well I worked all Saturday and into the late evening to get the light mod started. Took Kathy shopping in the city then came back and worked late last night to complete the job. Crazy busy this week and we have a contractor starting at 7am this morning doing some shop improvements. If a job is interesting I'll take it on. I think it's the challange more than anything. Some say I do what other don't want to do. I'm ok with that. I had to remove everything Kubota related for two reasons. The first reason was everyone was calling and emailing wanting to buy the stuff. I only put it on the site to show what I've designed and built then we signed a contract with another tractor manufacture and we took it off the site to honor one of the requirements of the contract. The contract ends this week but I'll keep the Bota stuff down off the site so we don't get harassed to death again. Appreciate your kind words. The BX is a fantastic machine.

It was essential to have that rock gone. It was right in the way to getting into the BX's shed plus we wanted the area for our outdoor fire pit and room for chairs.

when you were picking up the broken pieces, i got to think that you should see if the department of earth sciences at the Memorial University would do a carbon dating of one of the piece of rock, to see how old is that rock, mind you i donno of they would charge any money for that
