No wonder they got this movie's director to do the first Captain America movie. He managed to encapsulate the whimsical nature and unapologetic cheesiness of the Golden Age Superhero without completely divorcing it from reality or modern-day excitement and appeal! Joe Johnston is amazing.

It’s the best superhero movie, because the Rocketeer is the almost unwitting, almost reluctant neighborhood hero. The Eagle Scout, the bystander who lifts the car off the unconscious crash victim, the fireman rescuing the stranded kitten from the tree, the self-conscious Jimmy Stewart too shy to ask his favorite girl for a date. This is who he is is. He is us, and we are him, and we can fly. We can FLY!

I love that period of the late 80s early 90s where the early 20th century was in vogue as the setting for adventures, Indiana Jones, Dick Tracy and the Rocketeer, the last decent adventure from that period was the first Captain America which was done by the same director who did this, he had a knack for these period pieces.
@stoogefest16 Жыл бұрын
One of the best byproducts of the Indiana Jones franchise is that its success gave rise to an entire micro-subgenre of action adventure films that tended to take place in more quaint historical settings, like The Jungle Book (1994), The Mummy (1999), and of course this particular feature.
