Nice review! I will absolutely check you out again. How about "The Phantom of the Paradise" by Brian Depalma, starring Jessica Harper, Paul Williams and some dude whose name nobody knows. (1974) It is an amalgam of "the phantom of the opera," and "Faust" with a bit of Dorian Gray thrown in. And it has a guy called "Beef" saying fun stuff like "I know drug real from real real, man!" And "better get yourself a castrato for this, cause it is a little out of my range'

When I was 18 back in 92 I hung out with this 27 year old stripper who was really into the going to showings of this and would often tell me stories about it after we did "other things". She always wanted to take me she said but sadly by then most local midnight movie type theaters had shutdown. It's funny but there was a theater near me that did host the movie from 80 something till 1991. Missed it by that much. The other things more than made up for it, even ended up doing one of those spontaneous road trips with her and friends all movie like when she lost her office job. Good times and great memories.

Watching Rocky horror on a streaming service is like watching 2001: A Space Odyssey on a zune. Yah you watched it, but you didn't get the point of what makes the movie so special nor get the full effect, by watching it on a format it was not ment to be seen on rather then in the theater. Both Midnight movies like Rocky Horror and The Room and Visual epics like 2001 and 1917 are why movie theaters still need to exist, as their less about the movie it's self but rather the experience.

When I was growing up, my parents were rather conservative people and rather big fans of movies. In passing, they sometimes would mention The Rocky Horror Picture Show as this phenomenon from their youth and cite it as the first time thet had become aware of Tim Curry, who was something of a hero of mine. At some point in the mid-90s we had finally gotten basic cable and one night I saw a commercial advertising The Rocky Horror Picture Show playing on Comedy Central, which had quickly become my favorite channel. I was shocked that THIS was the great film my parents would so often fondly remember and even more so to find it playing in the living room later that week much to my dad's amusement.

They used to play TRHPS every Saturday night at the University Theater in Berkeley. It's sad, it's been so long since I've seen it that I've forgotten a lot of the shout-out lines and I don't want to buy it on video because it wouldn't be the same as seeing it in a theater with a cast and participating audience...

I have to wonder: who else has Muppet Treasure Island as their earliest Tim Curry memory? lol yup EDIT: I'm referring to earliest time you've seen his face, so voice roles like Fern Gully wouldn't count for this.

Special recognition should be given to the fact that Brad went this whole review without any of his jokes just being callbacks from the show (that I know of). Every time my brain filled in the easy joke and Brad went the other direction with it.

As a regular goer to the stage show (regular as in "whenever it comes to town"), I don't know how they do it in America, but we're not allowed to do most of the audience participation these days. No more throwing bits of toast when they call for it, or shooting water pistols when it's raining. We do still get to shout obscenities whenever Brad and Janet are mentioned though... Also, I'm very proud to say I can... and do... sing Sweet Transvestite to a T at every available opportunity (and to the misfortune of others, given that I cannot sing to save my life! XD)
