The Dacian Wars were major large-scale military conflicts fought between the Roman Empire led by Emperor Trajan and the Balkan kingdom of Dacia led by Decebalus. The first large-scale conflict between Dacians and Romans began when King Decebalus raided the province of Moesia. The Roman governor Oppius Sabinus lost his life and Domitian organized his legions and went on the offensive. After a tense peace, the trumpets of war sounded again under Emperor Trajan.
