Welcome to the "Roman Pilgrimage" sermon series By Derek Prince
This is an original Bible Study, teaching by Derek Prince. You are setting out on a journey in the realm of the spirit which will both inspire and challenge you. At times the going will be rough. It will take you through the darkest depths of human depravity and then on to the glistening heights of God's grace and glory.
Romans is a unique combination of the spiritual and the intellectual, without parallel in human literature. It unfolds the most sublime spiritual truth in terms of the most flawless logic. It will not merely illuminate your spirit; it will also challenge your intellect.
For this reason, Romans will not yield its riches to careless or superficial reading. If you are to complete this pilgrimage successfully, there are two items of spiritual equipment which are essential: prayer and perseverance.

Romans 1: 1 - 1: 17 -Paul's letter to the Christians in Rome confronts us with some of the most challenging truths of the Bible.
Paul introduces:
1. himself
2. the Gospel
3. the Christians at Rome
(a) 1: 1, 5, 9-15 Paul: sole author of the Epistle (compare Ephesians)-first,
bond-servant (slave), then apostle-first grace, then
apostleship-set apart to the Gospel (compare 2: 16)-for
obedience of faith among Gentiles (compare 15: 18-19)-with
special longing to visit Rome and strengthen the Christians
there. (God’s answer to Paul’s prayer is described in Acts
27: 1-28: 15)
(b) 1: 2-4 The Gospel: promised in Old Testament-centers in death and
resurrection of Jesus (compare 4: 23-25)-Son of David and of
God, Messiah, Lord-by resurrection God reversed the
sentences of Pilate and the Sanhedrin and vindicated the claim
of Jesus to be His Son.
1: 16-17 God’s righteousness revealed and power released through
faith/believing (4 times in 2 verses) = first commitment, then
belief-compare Hab. 2: 4; Gal. 3: 11; Heb. 10: 38.
(c) 1: 6-8 The Christians at Rome: Called “holy ones”-their faith a
testimony to the whole Roman world

I worked for Derek and Ruth when I was in Jerusalem in 1994. They had so much integrity and certainly practiced what they preached. The world has lost a tremendous Bible teacher with Derek's passing in 2003.

Thanks for your comment John. I don't doubt it. My wife and I had thr priveledge of being prayed for/over by Dr Prince and Ruth as part of our preparation and sending out to Mozambique. I distributed many DP books in that country thanks to DP Ministries ZA.

Thank you DPM for opening and keeping open to God's people this vault of truth! I trained as a lawyer and now serve as a judge in the High Court of my country in Southern Africa. I've been soaking up brother Prince's exposes of the Word of God since. The logic of this brother's presentation makes perfect sense to me. He has broken things down for his audience with brutal and extraordinary simplicity and honesty. Before stumbling across these teachings five years ago I had begun to tire of listening to lots of poorly prepared waffle that passes for biblical teaching. Thanks to this man of God I'm able to say boldly today that the Lord is my redeemer and the strengh of my life and I'm fast learning how to depend on Him. RIP Brother Prince!

The great thing about this brother's preaching is that he doesn't preach to our emotions but to our mind and spirit, giving us the ability to spiritually discern and absorb these teachings

His analysis differs on some points concerning what he describes as the spirit, the soul & the body of the human ; in comparison to Catholic catechism. He says the soul is the will, the emotion & mind of man. He says only the scripture can distinguish what's depending of the soul from what's depending of the spirit by quoting Hebrews 4:12 & 1st Corinthians 2:14. And comparing Revelation 18:16 to Exodus 28:8. He says the soul in Greek is called Psuche ; and Psuchikos what is sensual or carnal. The spirit in Greek is called Pneuma ; and the adjective Pneumatikos, meaning what's spiritual. He says we cannot use the psychology lingo to speak about spiritual truth ; by referring to what Paul said in 1st Corinthians 2:14-15. He says the carnal speaks to the emotions ; it stirs up passions to get motivated carnally to make an offering, but don't realise things within us that need to be done, like in false Churches. Catholic doctrine divides the human being into his ability of knowledge & love. Whereas to spiritual aspect of his soul for knowledge is his intelligence & will for his love. In distinction to his sensitive aspect of his soul ; that are his senses for the knowledge aspect, and emotions or passions, for his loving one. D Prince says when the appeal is directed to even the most refined & intellectual things, it doesn't come from God.

Starting now in February 2024, while learning Catholic Catechism in the same time. It's so confusing to compare all Christian doctrines and Bible versions ; it's hard to find the Truth.

Thank you DPM for posting this for free to us! I appreciate it. I have often thought 'why are so many pastors 'stuck' in preaching Romans most of the time, when there is so much in the gospels and Acts and the other letters too. Now I know, through Derek Prince's spiritual and intellectual wisdom given him. It gets better and better throughout and deeper and deeper. Please pray for me and my family. I have done much wrong, and my family and I may be perishing for my lack of 'this' knowledge when I used to have influence on them when they were young. May I recognize and be thankful for God's longsuffering and patience and forbearance to lead me and them to repentance.

Its also good to read the Present with Religion, a book available for free on the internet.The book is about the truth of life and it shows the full picture of life for the first time so that you may stop beinf deceived by the world and be able to follow the steps of Jesus and other prophets to Heaven.Knowing the whole truth of life is the key factor in our salvation.We must know the real truth, all of it and live in it and change ourselves according to it in order to be saved.There is no other way to our salvation.With the knowledge of the truth there comes true repentance which means changing our minds and also true obediance to God' s law and finally our sanctification which is a lifelong process.And God in His mercy will give us His wonderful grace which is the time and ability to make the proper change.Only in this way will we be able to attain our eternal salvation.Our task is to find this narrow gate that leads to God and do it quickly and stay on it till the end no matter what.Then and only then we will be saved.There is nothing more important or serious to do in this fallen world as our eternal fate depends on it.

@Matthew 25:31-46. Christians speak of scriptures as being this or that as a salvation issue, here Jesus made this a salvation issue Himself in Matthew 25:31-46. No teasing out scriptures or extrapolations needed, it's as plain as the Sun shine. Jesus made it an issue and so I recommend the same. God bless you on your journey!!!
