Absolutely fantastic lesson (all three sections - including that very tasty solo) of one of my all time favourite songs (Zep or otherwise). Deserves way more views as there is so much to be learned here if you already know a bit. Loved the chord breakdown section where you see the CAGED shapes used so effectively. Thank you very much Howard - about as good as it gets.

A quick comment and a question. I enjoy all your lessons on Zeppelin, the blues, The Beatles, Harrison, etc. The lessons are thorough and easy to follow. Okay, so here's my question to another Zeppelin enthusiast: What is your favorite live era of Zeppelin? I have been listening to many of the 75 and even 77 shows on KZfaq, like Seattle and Inglewood, of course, and, more recently, Cleveland.
@247GuitarwithHowardHart Жыл бұрын
I think they were pretty strong right thru Earl's Court in 75 - But I'm fond of the 72 shows a lot... You can hear them really becoming Zeppelin :-)

Hi Howard, How are you? We, back for another. Even though I know the song, I'm picking up different notes and nuances from you. Just love your lessons and nice dog. I have a pit bull mix named Keno, great dog. See you on the next one. Peace.

It's interesting... Even after years with Page's stuff, there are still nuances that I pick it up on occasionally. It makes the music so interesting as time goes by

Great stuff and really helpful. What pedals would you recommend to pair with a strat for this song?
@247GuitarwithHowardHart3 жыл бұрын
Hi - it's a pretty heavy dose of distortion - and of course, a Phase Shifter is important. If you can get enough gain out of your amp, you're good to go. Otherwise, a good Distortion Pedal will work :-)
@fedxman2024 жыл бұрын
Great lesson. What kind of distortion and phase shifter would you recommend?
@247GuitarwithHowardHart4 жыл бұрын
I like the old MXR Phasers... The EVH one is pretty cool as well. For outboard distortion, I really like the RAT. It's a mainstay on my pedal board. Thanks for watching!

Your tab is off on your little intro piece, from what you are playing on the time little lick... You have it with the "D" and "G" string as 11/11 then 9 then 11/9 * 11/9 * 11/11* 9 * 11/9 * 11/9 when you actually are playing (hammering on the 9) 11/9 then 9 * 9/9 * 9/9 *11/9 * 9 * 9/9 * 9/9 you are never hitting both 11's at the same time as your tab indicates. --- Other than that GREAT Teaching video my brother
@247GuitarwithHowardHart4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for catching that! Hopefully with the video and verbal explanation everyone can make it through... Thanks again - Howard

Just out of curiosity, Howard, as a classically trained guitarist myself I couldn't help but notice that lovely looking instrument in the background on this lesson. Could you tell me the make of the guitar by chance? I'd really love to know and were you classically trained as a youngster? Your technique and knowledge lends itself to that conclusion.
@247GuitarwithHowardHart3 жыл бұрын
Hi - It's a Montalvo... My wife actually purchased it before we were married. I've been playing it ever since:-) It has a beautiful tone and records very nicely. You can hear it in my tutorial for Shape Of My Heart. I'm not classically trained, but I've spent some time with classical pieces over the years. Thanks for checking out the channel :-)
