Ikr! Then they go and complain ): Royal Family makes hip hop look easy. Yes, hip hop isn't as technical as Ballet or Jazz but it requires a lot of stamina to be able to sustain yourself throughout the whole dance. Especially for competitions, you're basically doing a 2 to 10 minute routine without stopping. It's never as easy as it looks 😊

I think what is most cool about this group is that they are incredibly fluid and quick moving when it’s called for, and since there are so many, it creates a SUPER cool effect!! I cannot imagine how much work it took to come up with this choreography and to execute it so flawlessly, even if it’s not perfectly in sync some times. For the most part it is, and it’s amazing!!

Ruth is sooo good. People focus only on her popping and forget how good she is overall. She is such a clean, precise dancer. She never makes mistakes in these important performance, or loses momentum. You can see why these use her so much. Dread to think when she get a little older and they can't have her in varsity. The others are great too but she just has a leader like quality that will be missed.

Am I like the only one that thought it was really good? It was even better in person. And from the crowds reaction at semis which I wish everyone could've seen, you would've thought they were going to finals. Like they were one of only a few standing ovations, the others took place in like the top 5 mega crews that night.
@0Arirocks06 жыл бұрын
I feel like that with the Varsity crew, they aim more towards having fun and just gaining that experience rather than winning. Like I know that they probably have winning in mind, but if they actually wanted to get that bronze/silver/gold you know damn well they wouldn't just use stuff from other performances and old stuff. I'm a huge fan of the Palace but even I agree that they're not gonna win anything if they keep repeating their dances/musics. I would love to see something fresh come from them soon and I'm sure we'll get it one day! EDIT: I standby what I said on getting something fresh and oh my god, we did! I'm excited to see what else they have planned.
@bloodyshoes136 жыл бұрын
They even said it themselves that they just want to have fun, & I think the only people who were upset by them not qualifying for finals are the fans lol

It's a hell of a long (and expensive) way to go just for fun. How much is a round trip ticket from NZ to AZ??? Plus, why would you not care about bringing your A-game to a world event in front of sponsors and booking agencies? Dance is all about "what have you done lately" so resting on their past wins and Bieber vids doesn't make sense. Not tryin to argue, BTW, I'm just confused about the "we don't care" attitude that's been going around social media w/RF.
@bloodyshoes136 жыл бұрын
TallyHo tbh I'm not sure either. They all stayed in LA for almost a week after the competition, so maybe they were on vacation? Maybe they're planning something bigger? I know they just had a sold out tour around Europe back in May, and will have a world tour next month, so that maybe explains their attitude?

THESE GUYS HAD ALL OF THEIR FANS SHOOK!!! These guys are young and they placed 10th in the world against many adult crews... that just shows how amazing and talented they are and how much time and effort they put into their dances. The results may not have been what we expected but the craziness of the crowd, the amazing choreo, the facials, the energy in this is mind blowing and a score can't define the amazingness of this routine. I heard they learned this routine 2 hours before they got on by Pearl Tekuru (rf dancer) so that just shows how fire these guys are! Well down Royal Family!!
@himissgivemeperfectplease83186 жыл бұрын
AwkwardTurtle767 I don't wanna sound butt hurt without saying this but there will always be that person who'll be like "BUTTHURT FAG" but they didn't make the crowd that hype compared to other crews like legit status and learning a choreo within that time isn't that hard when you're good at dancing already, what takes time isn't learning the choreo but cleaning it as a group to be in synced and stuff.

I think we have come to expect too much from such young kids.... their dedication and professionalism off stage, u don't see in the couple of minutes onstage. I think regardless of their placing, any team that's made it here has qualified via regional and national competitions first, so that in itself is a major accomplishment!! Great Work RFV, NZ is very proud of U ALL! Xxx

Love love love Royal Family Varsity!!!!!! I am so sorry to hear that RFV didn't advance to the finals, and achieved the 10th spot, but it's ok there still more room for improvements so come back next year. few suggestions of mine, they need the main Royal Family crew like everyone should be on that stage... young dancers are okay, but the older ones can show that "wow" factor basically to the crew so yeah..overall love, love that Swish Swish booty moves

I have loved and followed Parris, along with all the crews, from The Palace Dance Studio for a long time! They are a true inspiration. BUT, I'm sorry, ever since Parris stopped choreographing for HHI, none of the crews have been the same. Well, besides their bad ass Royal Family comeback (which Kiel helped with) that should've taken FIRST. Don't get me wrong, they're great! But I feel like all of their stuff is repetitive. Ruthy is always the center of a popping section, lining up to do some sort of 'booty move' to a dancehall song and Samyah, the center of the whacking sections. This performance was NOT all that, TBH. I feel like it was all stuff we've seen already. Not to mention, they're wearing the same crop top sweater as last year, just in a different color. AND have the same hairstyle. They really love the braids with a ponytail lol. Obviously crews are gonne evolve, so I'm sure that's why their style has changed over the years. I still love The Palace and Parris! But I gotta admit, I love watching the old videos more than the recent ones 🤷🏻♀️ With that being said, my opinion doesn't really mean anything because they're STILL doing their thang AND getting hired by top artists. Keep shining, y'all 😏💅🏼

Huge fan of RF, but I think this was very good, specially for the age of the members compared to their expectations...but... and here goes the but...They were certainly not at RF's best. Here are my points of critique and I hope they are taken as constructive criticism: 1) There were no memorable moments. Mind you, there were some very cool visual sequences in there, but when the dance was over there was no single moment in particular that I can remember. From 2013 I remember the Lazo visuals, From 2015, oh man, the starting formation, Kiel's hip thrust into that awesome two-some convo, From 2016 Ruthy's whiplash, Samyah's tip toe dance, "bad girl, bad girl", and the powerful MJ formation finale. And more, way more in each. I can assure you anyone that has seen the dances could read this and know exactly what I am talking about. 2) The dance felt inexplicably less complex than last year, even thought in theory the dancers are more experienced. This relates to #1, not having memorable moments. It was a lot, of "get in this formation and make Ruthy look good". 3) Few standouts, few featured dancers. Right now the two stand outs are Ruthy and Samyah, and I would argue, Cullen, the up and coming Kiel nabbed my attention. In the past I wanted to know who all the talented dancers were. I got to know a good chunk of their names, simply out of curiosity becasue how the heck could all these people be so talented? Right now, these are the only three I know. 4) Related to 3, they didn't utilize all the dancers to the best of their ability. it felt like a lot of backup dancers for the few featured dancers. Take a look at 1:06 , Cullen starts doing the foot thing and all the people start scrambling behind him trying to get into formation. Rather than create some type of visual line that let to the main course, Cullen, you had a foreground and a background. The idea was to focus on Cullen, but there was so much uniform noise behind him it was hard to ignore the transition. Heck I do not even notice the two other girls in sync with him until the stage clears out a bit. It just looks messy. 5) Missed their timing quite a few times. They are subtle but break that symmetry and make it look "less energetic" even when I am sure they gave it their all: 1:13, two girls on the left come out 1 second too early 1:39, girls on the back got out of sync 1:46 Group moving left moves together, group on the right: a few start early, others start late. Also girl on the left row of the center whipped her her too early. 2:28 The right group kneels first 2:29 the left-most group whips up 1 second too early. 2:43 Right-most group's body is facing the audience, left-most group is slightly sideways 2:47 the two girls on top, on opposite ends do difference arm motions. 2:47 The two back-most pairs are out of alignment. Pause the video and you'll see the hole on the left, that is covered on the right side. 2:53 of the two girls shooting with their feet, one ends up with her back to the audience, and the other ends up tilted 45 degrees These are all i could capture in a single play. All I can say now is keep going. They are impressive for their age I am excited to see what all these people can bring in the future, but never get too comfortable.

kool2btrue Well to be fair I do find 2:48 kind of memorable, but that's about it... I agree with all you said, and I believe this also applies to Sorority this year... I can remember just so many moments of every year from 2012 to 2015... This year felt forgettable to me. I can't wait for 2018 to come and see if they can pull a proper comeback (which I'm sure they are capable of :] )

i wish they would wear outfits that help with the illusions they give in their performances. Like maybe stripe pants/track pants idk..cuz wearing black leggings hinders the performance and u cant really see da performance or dance becuz of it. Plus it helps if they wear something bright or colored than rather dark.
