@@cyberbird451 in the classic sense. It's like comparing Dark Souls to Sekiro. On DS, you can role play a class and really make it your own. In Sekiro you have very little control over your character development. Nioh 2 is slightly more RPG than Nioh, due to character creation, but no matter what you do, you're still basically a hack and slash, close combatant. Classic RPGs tend to have other aspects of party or town development, etc. I think what people are getting at is that just because you can alter a few stats or weapons doesn't make everything an RPG. I mean, is NBA 2K20 an RPG now?

for me, i really like both games because they feel like two devs making their own versions of each other's games Sekiro feels like From Software making a Ninja Gaiden game (despite Tenchu being the primary inspiration), and Nioh feels like Team Ninja making a Bloodborne game even further, Nioh 2 absolutely nails the old Team Ninja "feel" that i've longed for since Ninja Gaiden 2, especially the cutscenes and characters so happy i impulse picked this game up on launch, because i haven't stopped having a great time with it

I honestly don’t know why people keep comparing these games. They’re both difficult and have an ancient Japanese setting - that’s all they really have in common. From a gameplay and genre standpoint they’re completely different.

I like the missions its really no different than bonfires

The levels are pretty huge so there's all kinds of exploration.

Levels are pretty big and interconnected. Load times are insanely fast on a base PS4 as well.

It’s really not that hard man it just requires knowledge of your enemies knowing their move set and what not the problem is that most people die 10 to 15 times and they give up without learning said move sets then they come back later and have the same issue all you gotta do is keep at it

ivory reed I fought onrokkyi in nioh 1, 40 times to beat him. 40 fuking times. I got to the 3 boss Hino-enma who was even harder, and just quit the game. You can get burnt out fast by bullshit cheap hard bosses like that

@@gamerd8709 I had the same problem with Nioh 1. Hino just wrecked me over and over. Once I figured it out though, it became easy. Nioh devs like to place certain items/gear in the level to help you overcome the boss at the end. For Hino, it was paralysis resist gear. Get that stuff, stock up on needles, learn her moveset, and you'll find she's actually easy.

Too bad that the developers don't give a crap about the players and mindlessly copy the "play on hardest difficulty or get lost" retarded mentality Dark Souls has. They could just put an Easy Mode for people who just want to play the game and let those Dark Souls hardcore fans cry about it. At least Jedi Fallen Order gets it.

NIOH one and two heart level is much more important than character level as long as your gear is close or matches the level number you will be fine

KingKudakwashe this game is harder in some ways but easier in others. You can bring in an box helper to every boss. Plus the burst counter levels the playing field in your favor. Obsessed with this game.

This one is much harder than the first one in my opinion!

I was doing pretty good, then I got to the last mission of the second area "The Viper and the Butterfly." The thing recommended level 37, now maybe it meant 37 levels on a single stat, because I went in well above, but rounded, and that boss has to be a level 70-80. When I can actually fight him (since 5 seconds before he spawns a big enemy spawns, and if you don't kill him basically as the boss spawns, you're basically fucked), I went in thinking I'd cake walk him because I've been pretty thorough and am way over that "recommended level,", but holy hell...I did like a dozen finishers, the moves necessessary to set up each, hit him with as many yokai spears, AND used an entire yokai form on his ass, barely half of his life. If he catches me with a single hit, I'm stun locked, and die, half the time can't even properly burst counter away. It was the last thing I have to do before moving to region 3, and is by far the most difficult part of the first two regions, unless there's a specific thing i just don't know about...that dude is beastly.

@@RagnarokMic they said they had recommended levels wrong. On the newest patch, they fixed it. I'm lvl 60, and that seemed just about right for that mission, the recommended says 65

@@RagnarokMic I'm assuming you've beaten that mission now? Didn't see that was a week ago lol. If for some reason you haven't.... unload everything you've got as soon as you enter (yokai skills, then shift) once the 2 on 1 starts, just use spacing, wait for burst counters on the weakened one. (If you have trouble with the counters, take a different type. I hate the brute types myself, but I almost never miss counters with feral) Corrupted weapons help a lot. Or just take a summon.

yea people throw the term RPG around WAY too willy nilly. don't call it an rpg unless it's actually an rpg, just because it shares some mechanics doesn't make it the same genre, if that were the case then EVERY game would be an rpg because you "take on the role of etc"

It's nothing like souls games. It has more in common with RPG's, than it does with souls. It's heavy on the RPG actually, with recommended levels. There's levels for weapons, magic, ninja skills; there's levels for reputation, overall levels, bonus levels... I love The Trails games, particularly part 2, but just because nioh isn't like that, doesn't make it any less RPG. Maybe try something different, and have an open mind?

Deni I recommend playing Nioh 1 just because it’s so fun, but you won’t be missing out on any story or anything like that if you just play Nioh 2.

if I understand it correctly. This is some years before Nioh 2. so you don't need to play that game to understand this one.

Challenge comes in many forms and for different reasons. Not everyone is gonna like the same types of it. Like I love pattern recognition as a challenge but hate straight up memorization.

Silvio Dante I actually really loved it too hahah. It had its short comings and was noticeable lower budget then say a Bethesda game but I thought it had charm and it’s design reminded me a lot of Kotor and old RPG’s I used to play. Don’t get me wrong it’s got a lot of flaws but I think it’s a great first entry with the potential for a much much better sequel!

You can get others to help you if it gets to hard.forget about the people that say get good and use it if need be.its in the game for a reason. I'm 59 yrs old and the souls type games are my favorite but my reflexes are a little to slow for some of the tougher bosses and I'm not afraid to use co-op! Hell there were harder games I could beat like Contra when I was young and had quick reaction times.i still laugh at the people who think they are special because they can beat the harder games today.they we're much harder years ago and didn't have check points!

Games back then didn’t have as much content so they ramped up the difficulty to make the game seem longer. My first system was the Coleco vision but I play some Atari 2600 and 7800 before I got a system. Thanks for the reply, I will check out the co-op features.

I'd probably say too difficult, even with the combat giving unparalled freedom, some of the stiffest challenges can be found in Nioh. Especially if you're doing side missions, where they'll take bosses who were tough on their own, and have them fight together. But even if you can't beat it...the combat system needs to be experienced, one of the deepest in all of gaming.

The games are extremely hard, I quit playing nioh 1 because of the second boss was ridiculously hard And I won’t even waste a penny buying nioh 2

CEWIIH Untrue. On top of leveling your character there is skill trees for each weapon, proficiency and familiarity building per weapon, armor/weapon management on top of Soul Cores for the Yokai shifts. It’s extremely deep and leads to high replayability. Watering it down to just a leveling system does the game a huge disservice.

Ulysses yea that’s what makes sekiro harder in hindsight nioh 2 you have alot more tools to use so it’s more streamlined imo what I’m really trying to say is nioh 2 is easier cuz of your moveset

@@christophertaylor8202 I think Nioh and sekiro have things that make each other easier or harder. Like for example Nioh has a lot more the enemies can do to harm you, however, you have more at your disposal to combat them. Depends on your playstyle too.
