My wife and I rode this ride while we were visiting Branson in July 2022 . I was very apprehensive about getting on the ride but my wife wanted to ride it so I agreed and I must say It was a great ride and I might add that I am 71 years old . Old people can still have fun 😅

In Austria they have a single rail mountain coaster that is just gravity powered. The cars are collected at the bottom and a small flatbed hauls them up again. It is 4 times as long as this one.

I've ridden Runaway Mountain Coaster twice now, and I'll say... 1: In recent years, they've added audio cues to the lift hill (maintain distance, use little-to-no brakes, listen to that nature, etc) to make it less lonely. Still, I like the comments' idea of adding decor to the hill, such as various broken cars during Halloween. 2: Although they do place emphasis on having "a brakeless run", the downhill can feel almost too fast at times; you can brake a little. Don't ride your brakes, though- that's a way to make the person behind you hate you. 3: Between the displacement from the ground you have on the later parts of the track, the tilt of the track, and how there's only a small seatbelt to keep you in, it does feel a bit dangerous to go no-brakes fast.

There was a woman in front of us that was freaking out and had to be coaxed down the mountain, brakes on the whole way down. mark demell, I wonder if this coaster was designed for people like you. It prepares you with a gentle, scenic trip to the top and goes down at a decent speed but it doesn't look like it topped even 45 mph. I think the most it hit was around 40. It looks like something very young kids would enjoy too. However, If you ever find yourself at Universal Studios Orlando with little experience, don't let relatives/buddies pressure you into getting on the Incredible Hulk coaster. It is one of the most brutal coasters I've been on in years and I'm no stranger to those. However, you will like the Harry Potter coaster (Escape from Gringotts) as it has only one big drop but it's a gentle ride in dimly lit rooms with huge projection screens to tell its story. It's worth waiting in line for.

Just imagine how strong that tiny chain had to be to pull up a full person: ps imagine if the chain broke halfway through

The clang sound is the ratchet mechanism that engages every few feet to prevent the car from rolling backwards. I don’t want to sound like a know it all because I know you were just cracking a funny 😄

Luckily they do have an automatic stopping device when you get too close. I experienced that when a mom didn't want to scare her 3 year old on it, and went incredibly slow.

@@skeptical2653 in my experience they don't stop automatically. But it actually happened once that someone wasn't able to speed up again because there was a small passage going upwards where you have to have a minimum of speed. We then tried to knock the softly so they start driving again

That looked like a little plastic snow sled going up and wide open going down. Holy cow, that looked fun and scary. I have to ride this one sometime.
