Both Cone and Leiter are highly underrated. It's no coincidence that teams they were a part of were consistently in the postseason, if not winning it all. Great guys, and great pitchers.

These breakdowns are awesome. Kids are so lucky to have all this expert HOF information at their disposal. This level of expertise wasn't available back in the day unless you personally knew a pro player or coach and your typical JH, HS coaches even my college pitching coach couldn't teach most of this stuff. You were pretty much on your own to figure out all the nuances of how to execute pitches, delivery, grips, arm slots, finger pressure etc.

I could listen to them talking pitching all day. Both were some of my favorite pitchers when they were on the Mets

David Cone was a gamer. Filthy on the mound. Great in the booth as well.

I remember when my dad came home and said " We got Cone " it was my senior year in high school and we lived an hour's drive from the stadium, it all came together when cone became a yank!!! Thanks coney!!!!!

Great pitcher & goes to show you that while your mechanics may not be what coaches are accustomed to teaching, if it's working, stick w/it. This includes the gripping of the ball on certain pitches.

I recall whne the Braves would play against David Cone in the WS.He was almost perfect.He was Money during the postseason.

Similar to Mike Mussina in terms of repertoire.

When he asked him when the intensity started I was expecting to hear “When Pedro Guerrero charged the mound trying to hit me with his bat”

Me and my dad saw his no hitter on Fox 5 at the time. My dad said two innings in: "He's going to throw a no-hitter" I said "Nah. the Expos have Vlad, he hits everything" He was right. We talked about it til this day and my dad says "Honestly, I didn't think he'd throw a perfect game"

I don’t think either guy gets enough props for being as good as they were. Cone especially. I watched both play and angrily as my phillies lost to the jays in 93. Solid pitchers they were.

This video is very interesting! Two great pitchers talking about fine pitching mechanics. I remember that perfect game- the city erupted that night! I'd also love to meet the set designer; that set is super cool!

Its very interesting comparing the skills and techniques used by baseball pitchers compared to fast bowlers in cricket where in both sports u have so many different variations of delivery to the batter.

No hitters are cool but perfect games are on another level. There's been what, 260 no-no's, how many perfectos? 23? A perfecto is super special.

What mlb needs to do is instead of trying to be "cool" they need to take what is special about the game the history, the traditions, the qwerks, and show people and embrace it. It is the best game on earth and they shouldnt dumb it down.

Even on our worst day, Jesus loves us more than we could ever imagine. He is there. Rest in that.

pitching staffs are run differently now because of the amount of guys from Cone's era that had Tommy John and other major arm issues before they were 35. I agree it sucks watching guys get taken out of a no-hitter after 6 innings because they're over a target pitch count but overall I think it's better for the player.
