The Rush Hour Parade of Trains at Mimico Station - GO F59PH's, Endless Action, and More!

This is it! The final video from my Toronto trip in August is here! To wrap up the videos from up north, we will visit the Mimico GO Station, on a busy afternoon.
Mimico is not only home to GO Transit's Willowbrook Maintenance Facility, but also VIA Rail Canada's Toronto Maintenance Centre. Trains from every direction all converge on Mimico after their long journeys to Toronto. All of VIA's trains are maintained, serviced, and prepared for their long journeys ahead at the TMC. The majority of GO trains from all of their 7 lines also converge on the Willowbrook yard for mid day storage, cleaning, and inspection, before heading back to the suburbs for the night.
On a warm August afternoon, I took the GO train to Mimico after concluding some railfanning in Downtown Toronto earlier in the day. I stayed for around 1 hour, and got some awesome action during the afternoon rush hour. Several of the new GO cabcars are featured, as they are increasingly being introduced into service. I talked with one train crew at the station, and they couldn't say enough of how they are better compared to the original Bombardier cabcars. There are some issues with them here or there, but for the most part they are running just fine. In addition to the flood of GO Trains, also caught a few VIA trains making their moves in and out of the TMC, but I only included one clip since the others didn't turn out too good. Right before I was leaving Mimico, GO sent a special surprise my way, in the form of Rebuilt GO F59PH #563 still running strong!
I also included 2 shots from a passing GO train, showing both the VIA TMC and GO's Willowbrook yard. Neat collection of VIA equipment on the west side of the yard, especially the RDC's and LRC #6917!
This concludes all of my videos from the Toronto area. I hope you enjoyed all of the action as much as I did! I can't wait to return back up north, and get even more action than this time! Next week, I'll conclude my trip with some action across the border in Buffalo, New York. Great CSX and Amtrak action featured at the Buffalo Depew Amtrak station. Vintage New York Central era searchlight signals also featured. You won't want to miss it!

When I lived in Toronto, it was my Go Station and would walk home. Lots of train action.

At 14:38, the newly-painted loco in front is the new MPI MP54, identifiable by its two sets of vents on the top to match its two prime movers. It's the most powerful diesel passenger locomotive in North America, with 5400 hp.

They still sound as though they are about to blow some parts out the roof when they accelerate a 12-car rake of GO double deckers.

Where have you heard an MP54? They're not in service yet.

reaperexpress Sorry I meant the MP40, which sounds like a barrel of bolts. The MP54 doesn't sound much better. People living within earshot of a GO route will happy once electrification takes place, assuming they live long enough to see it.

man that bell is driving me nuts. what is its use anyways.why people cant see or hear a big train

Annoying as it is, the law requires the bell be sounded when a train is moving in a yard or a station to alert workers and passengers alike. And it doesn't always work. There were several cases in the past few years of oblivious commuters who were wearing earbuds and standing or walking too close to the tracks on the yellow line who got clipped by grab irons on a passing train and dragged to their deaths.

What a nice to have 10 to 12, 14 passenger. CalTrain (Between SF and San Jose) is a stupid system limited five cars (some are 6 cars) with so and so packed inside the train. When I hopped in of couldn't find a seat then next station stopped people got off from the seated and other who were standing grap their seats. I was stuck by standing entire the trip with my knee injury from my job. It is really stupid with limited sized of platform to limited 5 cars sized. And it should have more cars such as 8 or 10 or 12 or 16 cars just like Southern Pacific commuter with the comfortable for a paid to seated while doing paper work or read and if standing of couldn't read or paper work while holding one hand and other hold on object durning motions from getting falling. Also in the future will have frequently train in every minutes will not solving an issue just like limited one or two cars frequently SF Muni light rail or bus with so packed of people too. So, when a train supposed to have lots of passengers cars is the better! Right now I go Uber as I feel so comfortable seated while doing the laptop or phone calls for my businesses and no matter if the traffic is tie up as need to get my business work done at daily. After 50 years I stopped going on Caltrain (rode on former Southern Pacific too). Also, when a train break down or delays with the more trains arriving an awful pack on each train for couple hours of waiting to get less and less for me enter because my Health's issues. All my workers are stopped going on Caltrain too and no matter have every minutes train will not solving an issues (limited number of cars huh!)
