The Sacred Heart is everywhere! You see it on candles, tattooed on people's arms -- you've probably even seen it hanging on your grandma's living room walls (I know I have). Why do Catholics venerate this image? What is its significance? Join Nick and Gabby to find out more about this beautiful devotion.

I think the devotion to the sacred heart is ehat made me take my faith seriously and become more interested in it rather than a weekly event on Sunday I had to turn up to. Love it

Toward the end of the video, isn't that an image of the Divine Mercy and not the Sacred Heart?

Jesus does look similar here to one of the Divine Mercy images, but it is indeed the Sacred Heart ... todayscatholic.org/the-sacred-heart-of-jesus/

Yes, that's an image of the Divine Mercy. It was Jesus that told St. Faustina to have it painted this way and to have the words "Jesus I trust in you" put at the bottom of the painting. The Sacred Heart of Jesus has an image of Jesus' heart on his chest. Though I guess it doesn't hurt to say "Jesus I trust in you" for the Sacred Heart of Jesus as well.

Thank You for stating a Holy Hour on Thursdays is part of the requirements for the devotion... so much literature out there neglects that part .... What you didn't say is it's supposed to be a meditation on Jesus' Agony in the Garden.

"Requirement" is such a strong word.

@@CatholicCentralVideos True .. and a necessity for those who do it out of religious duty vs. love ... and interestingly I was reading 7 Secrets of Confession tonight by Vinny Flynn who had referenced Luke 12:48 .... Love it when God confirms His truth like that :)
