That but also it’s a cult manipulation tactic as well. You have to believe that these products are a life-changing that you have a solution to a problem and that you can offer this amazing opportunity that will solve peoples financial issues. They push us so much so that their distributors will basically be brainwashed into staying in the MLM. It’s such a sin in the video of the girl who is crying that she doesn’t realize this isn’t normal. Like the fact that she’s “so close to hitting the next rank” yet she’s SO upset?? If you’re that close to a promotion it should be a happy thing. And having to rely on other people for your promotion sucks. Like at a regular job, you get promoted based on YOUR performance. No one can take that away from you, and it’s up to you how you work to get the promotion.

LOUDER FOR THOSE IN THE BACK!!!! I’ve lost a couple of friends to MLMs and to this day, they think I should’ve “supported” them more and bought things from them to help them out. I tried being nice and saying no, but hanging out with them made me feel like I was in a constant state of recruitment and being sold to. They have since quit but still have the mindset of that of a hunbot. Love you Chelsea!

I completely understand every word of what you’re saying. My friend went a step further, and went completely psychotic on me because I posted a product that tasted good that had nothing to do with her MLM and she went insane. The things she wrote on my public social media were horrifying, and to this day, I can’t even look at her. We will never speak again. She has lost her ever loving mind. Probably the worst encounter I’ve ever had with any type of friend. Straight razor blades. I’ve never experienced anything like it.

So glad I found your channel. Me and my mom got really into the Chris Watts Murders and Shanann was in Thrive. She posted everyday about her MLM and portrayed this amazing luxury lifestyle. After she was murdered we got a peak into her finances and they were dead broke. She was buying thrive for her downline and herself. She had thousands of dollars of that stuff stocked in her basement. They were about to lose everything because of Thrive, so sad. Chelsea you should do a Shanann Thrive video : )

Thaaaaaank you for mentioning at the end the fact that regular 9 to 5 jobs most often offer health insurance and retirement, etc! I lost my job in February and have been paying for my insurance out of pocket through the COBRA program, paying $583/month. Why would anyone want to pay for their own health insurance when you could find an employer who pays either the majority of or the full cost of your health insurance?! Like what? 🤔

My main issue is how she defines “support” - when she says only a few family members buy from her - so she means “support her” = “buy from her” which is NOT the same thing. Yes, this is incredibly sad that she’s so brainwashed that she thinks that’s the definition. No one in any other industry expects their friends and family to make the business successful except MLMs. The uplines convince you that your friends and family owe you their money and business and that’s what “support” means. Also: don’t they pitch the “opportunity” as flexible so they can put their kids, pets, whatever first? Yet, for this girl, for who it seems religious volunteer work is a priority, is saying point-blank that she has to miss volunteering because she has to work. So sad and also so frustrating.

Being an independent contractor does not a business owner make- it’s explicitly written in all their contracts yet these scammers like to try the whole 1099 thing as evidence that they ARE business owners- which is completely false.

She DID say later on in the video that just because someone doesn’t buy from her doesn’t mean they don’t support her so she did clarify that. But I think it’s clear that only a few people buy from her and her family doesn’t support her given the context of the whole story, and how she came home from Thanksgiving dinner crying. But I do understand your point it is crazy when people are expecting their family and friends to buy from them. For example I sell Botox and other treatments like that... my mom and my sister in law/bestfriend both get their treatments done somewhere else, i’m not mad about it. I’ve even gone somewhere else to get my lips done lol.

While I love most of the anti-mlm creators out here many of them don't actually have traditional full time jobs and there's nothing wrong with that. I love the fact that you are able to bring a true and positive perspective when comparing the benefits of a full time job to mlm. I have a full time, corporate job and I find many of the hun's arguments against working a 9-5 insane and completely outrageous.

Of course! I've love to say I work a '9-5' schedule but I typically alternate throughout the week, 8-430pm and 1pm-930pm so that I can handle my west coast clients too. I think alot of the other antiMLM creators are younger than me so maybe thats why they don't have 'typical' fulltime/corp jobs.

I’ve been in an abusive relationship, I went to therapy, I’ve studied psychology and such in college, I’ve studied all this in my personal time as well, I do think that makes me pretty informed and educated and I can see things others may not and much quicker but again I’m not a Dr or a psychiatrist.

New sub today. I love your channel. When I was in my mid 20's my husband and I were recruited to join an MLM. Hubs had lost his job and the pitch of owning your own business interested him (not me). I didn't see it. I enjoyed my job and spending time with friends on weekends. Our marriage was crumbling with the continuous arguing over my lack of participation and believing. He finally got out of it once we moved out of state. We brought a huge "business" loan with us to pay off, thanks to his sponsor's brainwashing. It was a cult and scheme.

Every time they say they run their own business I just laugh! Like you said a 1099 form is for contractors and anyone labeled as self-employed 😂 One reason they think this insanity is because MLM’s like Beachbody charge a “business fee”. As I was cancelling my subscription with them I noticed this business fee charge 😂

thats tough. when someone believes so deeply in something to the point where they deny red flags and facts...it could completely end your relationship if you address it. I'd say not to engaged when those topics are brought up, be patient and just keep loving them. set boundaries though to protect yourself and your mental health.

You should consider doing an interview with people who have lost fam down the rabbit hole and with someone who got out of an MLM to explain why they chose that route over fam and friends. I always think to myself, if this was really about the product (which I know it’s not, but let’s pretend that it is) why would you want to recruit people at all? I mean, being the only one who sells this amazing product would surely bring in more money than having thousands and thousands of competitors. That’s why patents exist, right? If you’re the only one selling a life-changing product, people will have to buy it from you if they want it at all, you can set the price and you will not have any competitors. Why would you want more competitors if it was all about selling the products? Being the only seller in your area would be great!

I’m so glad I found your channel!! I am a Kiki Chanel fan and one of her videos mentioned you and said to check you out for Monat videos because you do such a good job picking apart the lies with cold hard facts! I’m a cosmetologist and was contacted by a friend from middle/high school about joining Monat about a year ago and I had a yucky feeling about it… so glad I listened to my gut!!! Still I had no idea that they were as bad as they are, I was legit so pissed my old friend came at me with that hot garbage “opportunity”… I checked her socials out to see what she’s been up to lately and it seems like she is backing off from the business big time, and all of her posts know mostly revolve around her new baby, but she is one who had the car, was able to build a house with her husband, and able to start her own salon all because of Monat (so she claimed…🤷🏼‍♀️ who knows maybe maybe not) but back then that almost railed me in. Thank God my husband sense into me when I told him about it n he basically told me that is a scam that’s too good to be true so I came to the conclusion of absolutely not lol I love him so much for that lol She still has posts every so often but NOWHERE NEAR how she used to post nothing but hey hun posts 10 times a day, so I’m hoping that means she’s slowly backing out, but I will keep checking to find out for sure. Hey all! New sub here. 😃 Came here because mlmbossbabe had one of your videos in her Instagram stories - Unhinged Monat Hun Harassed Me. And I just had to watch! One of my friends is in Monat and tried countless times to get me to join. It almost got to the point where I had to “yell” at her (via text) to shut up about it and stop asking me or else I was gonna stop talking to her altogether. Now I’ve been binging all your anti-mom content and I can’t stop watching. The girl in this video seriously breaks my heart. This proves what Kiki Chanel says in her videos all the time... that MLMs purposely prey on vulnerable people, mostly women. This girl is so young and clearly hasn’t learned how to stand up for herself and say no to people. She’s mentally and emotionally fragile and because of that her upline has convinced her that her friends and family are against her!!! So sad. This girl needs her family and therapy!

It’s life changing because you lose your friends and family. Supporting you does NOT mean your friends and family are obligated to buy from you! They don’t have to support you by buying your products. They blocked you or whatever because they’re not interested in your products and they’re probably tired of being harassed about it. Your family is trying to help you by being honest with you, if they didn’t care they’d say nothing.

My friend joined Monat and it's been hard on our relationship. A lot of her friends, including me, tried the product samples and didn't like the results. So not only is the company bad, the products are awful too. I'm trying to get her out, she's wasting so much time and she isn't making a profit. It's been 9 months and she didn't make any money

Had a friend that was targeted for a MLM scam. Thankfully he was clearly much smarter then the guy who attempted to get him onboard. So he was able to avoid the pyramid scheme. We straight recorded the guy & his pitch. Was awful to see the level of manipulation & dishonestly. All for 5-6k per year. We almost felt sorry for the guy & felt like he was manipulated into it. I found your vids when looking into the scams. Thanks for all you do informing the world in order to combat the scammers.

It’s sad that you’re depending on people to be promoted. In a normal company promotion is based on YOUR work alone. MLM’s are simply legal pyramid schemes because they’re selling a product, but it’s still a pyramid scheme. It’s not a stigma, it’s facts and truth and there’s plenty of history and facts to back it up.

Every day I see how much my brother is effected by my sister in law's involvement in YL. I see the impact of them losing their home and him working tons of extra shifts on the long haul truck to afford her staying involved (without an additional income on her end.) He's been brought to tears before. He loves her so much, but she's so far into the cult mindset, and he's so dedicated to supporting her that he has given up school, a home, his credit score, and even his health. And I see the MLM trying to get her to cut everyone who cares about her out of her life, she outright told Mom she'd cut me off if my brother hadn't stopped her. (I raised him, my mom is chronically ill and couldn't handle him alone) Almost everyone in my hometown is in MLMs and Scammy Direct Sales (like Cutco) because the town pretty much died and there is nothing left unless you move to Olympia. I've seen too many people other who are extended family suffer, a marriage end, and (a) fellow alumni have a mental breakdown and get hospitalized from the stress. I think back on all the years that I was brainwashed to think supporting MLMs was correct. All the help I offered early on in learning marketing to my hometown Reps and I feel so guilty that I didn't see it then and could've helped. I feel so broken that no matter how I try to help, everyone is in too deep to see they're in a cult.
